'Happy New Year'
Happy New Year' (2014), produced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, continued to break records by having the biggest box office collection in India for the opening weekend.
It has collected Rs. 108.86 Crs on the opening weekend all India, with Rs. 104.10 Crs in Hindi, Rs. 2.92 Crs in Telugu dub and Rs. 1.84 Crs in Tamil dub. The film has become the highest opening weekend ranker in Indian films so far.
Venky Mysore, CEO RCE said, "We are thrilled that after Chennai Express had set a new record in 2013, Happy New Year has set another new benchmark. We are grateful for the ongoing love and support of audience."
Gaurav Verma, Chief Revenue Officer RCE said, "We are thankful to all our partners, exhibitors and especially YRF for helping us achieve this significant milestone."
Happy New Year' is produced by Red Chillies and directed by Farah Khan.
SRK has gone to 3rd place again after failure of #HNY Top10- Aamir, Salman, SRK, Hrithik, Ajay, Ranveer, Sidhart, Varun, Akshay, Tiger.
Happy days are here again for Farah Khan courtesy SRK & Co. Happy New Year(HNY) has shattered all single day box-office records to emerge winner by collecting close to 43 crore on Day One. With this SRK has bettered his own previously held record of Chennai Express that raked in 33 crore on Day One last year.
Says noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "The movie has done tremendous business on Day One. It has collected a total of 44.97 crore on opening day out of which Hindi language collections have been 42.62 crore while Telugu and Tamil collected 1.43 crore and 92 lacs respectively."
With the movie opening solo on close to 5000 screens and with Diwali weekend going on, HNY is all set to create history. However Taran Adarsh says it's still early days and he would rather wait before passing a decision on the movie's expected final collection. "It's still early days and the beauty of the box-office is that it is unpredictable. I wouldn't want to peg a final figure at the moment."
While trade analysts may not be ready to put out a final figure, we are sure this SRK-Farah juggernaut will chug on at full steam collecting maximum money at the box-office. A 400 crore looks to be a simple possibility for the moment.
King Khan has once again proved his Midas touch at the Diwali box-office and how. In just a span of three days, Happy New Year(HNY) has raked in more than 100 crore at the box-office. At a time when films take more than a week to reach the coveted 100 crore mark, Shah Rukh Khan has created history by scaling the Everest in just three days.
The collections now show a total of over 107 crore for the opening weekend (Hindi - 104.10 cr, Telugu - 2.92 cr, Tamil -1.84 cr).
Notes eminent trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, "The collections speak for themselves and that fact that it was a SRK film during Diwali meant it would do phenomenal business."
While one did expect HNY to cross 100 crore, to do so in three days does come as a surprise to many. However, Taran himself doesn't look upon the record-breaking act as a surprising element. Avers Taran, "It doesn't come as a surprise to me because given the way it had opened and also the fact that it was a Farah Khan movie with SRK, Deepika, Abhishek, Boman and Sonu, the collections were expected soar high and fast."
With Diwali vacations coming to an end, it remains to be seen how far the HNY juggernaut will roll.
