Sid's timely entry

By Roshmila Bhattacharya, Mumbai Mirror | Sep 6, 2014, 01.05 AM IST

Sid's timely entry
LtoR: Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar, Ritesh Sidhwani
Sidharth Malhotra to star in Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's next, which will be co-produced by Karan Johar.

Karan Johar's student is certainly going places. Even as he prepares to take on Akshay Kumar in the boxing ring in Brothers, Karan Malhotra's Warriors remake, and cloak himself as a vigilante superhero in Vikramaditya Motwane's Bhavesh Joshi, Sidharth Malhotra has netted another interesting film.

A love story with a twist, reportedly about a time-traveller, it will be directed by debutante Nitya Mehra and co-produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Sidharth's mentor, KJo.

Confirming the news from Poland, Ritesh told Mirror, "Yes, Sidharth is on board and Karan too. Karan is a good friend and we've been talking about collaborating on a film for quite some time now."

It was a conversation with the film's hero which eventually brought Karan onboard.

"He heard about this film from Sid and asked us for the script. He loved it so much that he said he would be happy to get involved in any capacity. Farhan and I have never co-produced before, Karan is our first partner."

The romance which spans across timelines was offered to Aamir Khan too but as Mirror had earlier reported (March 7), the actor and the studio failed to agree on the remuneration and other commercial clauses.

Thereafter, there were talks of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone being roped in but Ritesh points out, "There was a lot of speculation about the cast but this is the first time we are confirming a name. The leading lady should be locked in another four-five days and the film will roll by April 2015."

Will it release next year? "We're not sure," he says. "We already have three releases lined up in 2015, we don't know if we want a fourth one." Whenever it comes, this 'different' prem kahani will be timed right!

Lol. So how many films now about time travel and a love story.
One with Hrithik
Shuddhi seems to be in that genre. Reincarnation and flashbacks
Now Sidharth.

Is Bollywood that starved of new ideas.
Bakwaas. 👏

also 2010 Action replay starring akshay and aishwarya.
and 1992 Time Machine starring aamir khan, ravvena tandon that was made halfway...the idea is very old and started from 1960s classic series twilight zone and 80s hit movie back to the future

Bhavesh Joshi is also not a dharma movie neither it is coproduced by dahrma... Ekta is a professional..why would she risk her money for karan...she is not even friends wih karan...Sid signed a two film deal with Ekta even before SOTY released
