India is a religious nation and we put our faith on invisible Gods more than we do on our near and dear ones who are very much visible. Such is our faith on Gods that we don't mind killing humans if it is outraged. Whether or not God cares is a discussion for some other day, but there seems a person who wants to figure out various aspects of worshipping Lord Ganesha, who is presently on a tour of Earth. And he is none other than Ram Gopal Varma. He has various questions regarding Lord Ganesha.

Yesterday, India celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi by welcoming the elephant God in their households. And Ram Gopal Varma deemed it fit to raise questions about Him. He started off by asking on Twitter "The guy who couldn't save his own head from being cut , how he will save others heads is my question? But Happy Ganpathi day to morons!"

He later added, "Can someone explain how someone can cut off a child's head who was just trying to protect his mother's modesty? Am sure devotees know better".

He further asked, "What did Ganesha do that his brother kumara dint do so that only Ganesha became god? Is it becos Kumara dint get head cut off like Ganesha?"

If that wasn't enough , he also asked, "Can someone tell me if today is the day Ganesha was originally born or is it the day his dad cut his head off?" and "Does Lord Ganesha eat with his hands or his trunk?"

I'm a Hindu and personally I don't mind at all. Some of the questions are amusing and humorous. I think many people have had similar questions but never dared to ask. Other questions are probing and thoughtful. I find it healthy to question myths and beliefs. To me questioning makes faith more rational and well founded. Some of them are downright ignorant and insulting. Rather than get upset over these, I find these as a good opportunity to educate and inform people.

Religion shouldn't mean that we should be uptight and overzealous about it. If we don't allow questioning, how will we educate and inform people about faith. If we don't let people express their ignorance, how will we identify and eliminate ignorance. Sometimes there are holes and inconsistencies in organized religion and only when we are questioned do we study deeper and learn about the history and evolution of religion. Questioning can actually bring us closer to faith.

I understand that people are hurt and believe that RGV was in the wrong. He was being asinine. But the reaction against him and the censorship of such views doesn't do anything for Hinduism. It just lets people continue to revel in their ignorance. Instead of publicly they do it privately. And when ignorance is private, who knows how many more people will be misinformed.

My opinion is that anyone who chooses to ridicule a God or a religion which might hurt the religious sentiments of many people is a insensitive moron, jerk and an IDIOT of the nth degree...and that is what exactly RGV is...
To those who may argue that he is just asking innocent questions...yess right...there is a way of phrasing ur question and asking the right people who might really have an answer to ur questions...and not throwing it out on the internet ...and I am talking about a man of RGV's status who has a lot of sources to get his questions answered if he really wanted the answers to them...and not put them up in a crude language on the internet where people can ridicule the Gods and come up with all sorts of crazy answers...NOT DONE RGV ...NOT DONE👎🏼

I think the topic was posted b4 and i tried my best to answer it well.
But if not for RGV, for some sensible members here.. I like ask them rather awkard questions?

1. Mythology? do u like it, blv it or just hate it?

2. God, do u blv in Him/her, worship him/her, or just laugh at him/her?

3. How many religions actually blv God can be a female too?

4. If u r athiest.. wht do u blv in? urself.. or others?

5. Why do u ever blv in anything.. as if its gonna work?

6. Do u think typing the keyboard on ur laptop gonna get u any closer to answer or more questins?

7. R u seeking for answer or merely trying to make urself look good who knows everything?

8. If u know everything.. why dont u spell out God for ignoren ppl and save them?

9. If u blv in urself.. isnt that the whole point of spirtuality? God is within u.

10. Bhakti(Worship with faith), Karma( Action-reaction theory), Gyan( Thy shell know the truth), Moksha( Thy shell know inner beings), non-belief( Thy shell blv in nothingness-which is God)..

What of above u choose? In the end, u r chosing God. 😊

I don't think anyone minds genuine curiosity about any religion. But considering religion and how we express our faith is such a personal thing, a bit of sensitivity is required.
This respect was missing in whatever and however RGV expressed his questions, there is no other way to put it but he was being jerk . Calling people Morons just because they chose a different way of worshiping is silly and then expecting them not to react is even crazier. Reactions were not for the questions but the tone and the way he did it.

As far as his questions are concerned most are a click away , even then faith and devotion don't seek logic many times.

Lets not make this about censorship of religion- it wasn't . This was about a guy misusing his freedom of speech to provoke a community unnecessarily. All the flak he received is well justified.

I had some questions about Islam too...I didn't put ridiculous question on twitter...I asked a friend who is muslim ...has read the Holy Quoran...and I got my questions answered...thats the way to do it if u are genuinely curious...there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking questions...its how and where u do it matters...
