Singham Returns has recorded the highest first day collections for films released in 2014. The film has collected around 20% more than Salman Khan's Kick which released on a non-holiday during the Ramadan period.
Holiday releases usually tend to collect about 50% more than non-holiday releases. However, the average ticket prices of Singham Returns was lower than Kick and the number of screens was also about 10% lesser.
The hugely popular Singham brand, director Rohit Shetty and the presence of Ajay Devgn has ensured that Singham Returns has posted opening day records in several circuits including Mumbai, C.P Berar, C.I and Rajasthan. Other territories like West Bengal and Mysore, where such films don't usually perform well, have also scored big on Day 1.
