Singham Returns has started well on 2nd Day (Saturday) in theaters despite having a monumental first day at box office. Film is set to show drop after an earth shattering Independence Day yesterday. But good news is that drop is lesser than 50% in Morning shows if it is compared to Friday which is fantastic. That means film is holding well and set for another big day.
Singham Returns has registered an opening of around 45% from Saturday Morning Shows. Single Screen reports are awaited as just started. Film is doing again exceptionally well in places like Pune, Mumbai. Other parts of India is showing nominal to significant drop which is on expected line.
Film second day aim will be to collect at least 15 crore nett for the day. If film goes past that it will be very good for it. If somehow film does exceptionally in later part of the day and manages collection in the region of 20 crore nett, then film is just unstoppable as that can be meant as reports are excellent of the film. Plus there is Sunday also tomorrow which will again be huge. We will have more update on Singham Returns as day progresses.

Singham 1 did more than 50% from Mumbai Circuit, SR also doing phenomenal there, whichever movie strike that circuit best helps that film's Total collection. Even 2nd day trend in mumbai circuit is way ahead than ROI.

Singham Returns Box Office collections was always expected to be great. However, the film has done exceptionally well, what with registering a humongous Day 1 record. Yesterday, being a national holiday, Singham Returns roared throughout the day with an excellent occupancy at the Box Office.

After a smashing opening in the morning shows, the film maintained its relentless hold till late afternoon shows and picked up massively in the evening and night shows. As per early estimates, this Ajay Devgn starrer has made an approx business of 30 crores or even more! The actuals are still being compiled and will soon be updated!

The response has been humongous in both single-screens and multiplexes all over the country. Without a doubt this Rohit Shetty directorial will score gigantic collections at the ticket counter, during the long weekend.

Needless to say that the word of mouth publicity is super strong, so much so that a good chunk of audience, especially the Singham Fans' will watch the film even twice!

Karan Johar and Ajay Devgn have never really seemed to have shared a warm relationship.

In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, Ajay had confessed the same and said, "With Karan my equation has been the same, we were never too friendly." Karan Johan and Ajay Devgn may not be the best of pals, and their indifference was most recently evident in a tweet posted by Karan Johar. With the release of Ajay's Singham Returns on Friday, Karan had posted praising the film, "Just saw #SinghamReturns ...super duper hit!!!!! And Rohit Shetty is a superstar!!!!!" It seemed like the filmmaker had conveniently missed out on the lead hero of the film. It seems like the fallout is out in the open now!



Ajay's wife, Kajol and KJo used to be good friends, but it seems like that charm too is withering now.

By now, it's all too familiar. There is a moment towards the climax when a few cops just smile and tap their foreheads. No words required. It is the quintessential audience gratifying moment. Everyone, from the cops to the criminals to the audience knows what that means. It's a trademark Singham gesture followed by his war cry of having lost it... "AATA MAAJHI SATAKLI.."
This honest policewalah with danda, Baji Rao Singham is serious. That makes him sexy. More so when he takes off his cop's khakhi wardi and reveals an ordinary baniyan. The righteous anger in the eyes is cooler than Salman's hairless six-pack wonder. The tension in the body is intense. The muscles are bigger. And when he loses that patience and lets out his Maratha war cry, he is Ajay Devgn, the sexy Singham. The accompanying theme soundtrack, "Singham...Singham.." makes doubly sure you are as charged as him and his band of baniyan boys.
Singham Returns' maintains the USP of the original Singham, that is, the unity amongst cops. It starts by rolling off statistics on how in a city teeming with x crore population, there are only y 000 cops recruited to look after the city. This sets the tone for the grim and tough job on their hands.
No surprises in the plot here. Except that one politician is a good guy (Anupam Kher). The bad guy is a Babaji (Amole Gupte) who at public gatherings, wears white dhoti and at home, T-shirts sporting Dope Chef'. Both run a coalition party. They meet and have a typical showdown, spouting lines heard a million times over. Result: Kher's life is in danger.
Honest and sexy Singham is around to protect Kher. He can run, shoot, duck bullets like a model walking the ramp. We see him doing what he does best. He flies sideways into the screen, in slow motion, a gun in hand, blasting off every bad guy in sight. He blazes ahead, rifle in hand, braving bullet shots. Not one grazes him. He is, after all, the hero, "jisme hai dum, faqt Baji Rao Singham".
Obviously, the director, Rohit Shetty, is taking no risks here. He sticks to unite all cops' formula and even adds more cop characters to cheer for. There is also an impoverished dead cop's widow who is willing to wash utensils to make ends meet. Then, there is the bereaved mother so that sexy Singham can put his mighty hand on her head and say lines that cannot fail to touch the audience.. "AAI SHAPATH". You just wish there was more of the Marathi element which gets relegated to brief parents' scenes in a Maharashtra village.
The limelight in aamchi gaon, shines on Singham's love interest, trying hard to be a Marathi mulgi (Kareena Kapoor). She makes kohl eyes at the Maratha man, frolics around in pretty long skirts and a wristful of silver bangles(nice styling) and follows him, driving an auto rickshaw. Certainly, Miss kohl eyed K deserves a better use of her unstoppable vivacious charm.
Now that the villains, the romance, guns, deafening dhishums, two Marathi dialogues and a marching band of boys in khakhi and banyans are in place, Rohit Shetty cannot go wrong.
No disappointments, no surprises. Faqt Baji Rao Ajay Devgn, the macho, sexy Singham.

'Singham Returns' has overtaken Salman Khan-starrer 'Kick' to emerge as the biggest opener of 2014 with box office collections of around Rs 30 crore.

Ajay Devgn-starrer 'Singham Returns', which was released on the Independence Day, has seen better box office collections than 'Kick' a opening day is concerned as per early trends, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The final collections figure of 'Singham Returns' on Day 1, however, is yet to be disclosed.

'Singham Returns' movie review: The invincible cop


It may be mentioned that 'Kick' had made a roaring start in box office collections with an estimated Rs 26.40 crore on a non-holiday (pre-Eid).

'Kick' broke the 2014 opening day collection record of Salman's last film 'Jai Ho', which released on January 24 this year, Gunday's (Feb 14) Rs 16.12 crore and 2 States' (April 18) Rs 12.42 crore.

If comparison is made between Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan on Independence Day releases, the later wins. Salman's 'Ek Tha Tiger' (15th August, 2012) opened with Rs 32.93 crore.

The much-awaited 'Singham Returns', which brings the unbeatable Rohit Shetty-Ajay Devgn combination together, had a thunderous start across single screens and a solid start at multiplexes.

With the 15 August being a national holiday, the film was expected to witness strong footfalls across cineplexes all through the day.

While 'Singhham Returns' was released on over 4,000 screens worldwide, including 3,600 screens in India.

The advance booking of the film was more than encouraging in several circuits and going by trends, the film should pack a solid total over the weekend.

'Singham Returns', which is a sequel to 2011 hit film 'Singham', is directed by Rohit Shetty and has been promoted well by the two leads, Kareena Kapoor and Devgn.

'Singham Returns' special song, 'Ata Majhi Satakli' by Yo Yo Honey Singh has already grabbed the attention for Kareena's dance with 100 other kids dressed as cops.

While Devgn plays supercop Bajirao Singham fighting crime, his onscreen lady-love Kareena adds some comedy to the film balancing perfectly between action, anger, drama, love and laughter.
