Today sees the sole release of Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns', starring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead roles. The film has started off with a strong first day in India.
Singham Returns' is taking advantage of a holiday weekend, with it being Indian Independence Day. It has done well at the box office during the first half of the day, as expected, and is currently equalling Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho' which was the second biggest opener of the year, according to Box Office India. The occupancy average is a sturdy 65%, with some areas boasting full houses. It is safe to say it will continue to do well throughout the weekend as more and more people take to the cinema with their families on the long weekend.
Last week's Entertainment' starring Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia had a disappointing first week, making just under 50 crores. It seemed to struggle during the week after a pretty dismal opening weekend.
Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick' carries on its dream run, making 213 crores net in India on its third week.

Kareena Kapoor Khan who has become a little more choosy in the kind of films she is doing, has said that marriage has not affected her career.
The 33-year old actress told Times Of India, "Marriage just not comes in the way thankfully at least in my life. I am working with actors who can work with an 18-year-old girl. When Rohit Shetty approached me, he said I have written the role for you and I can't see anyone else doing those crazy things."
Talking about upcoming work, she added, "But I will not do a film only because the critics will love it. I do not need to prove my talent now," she said, adding that she is looking for performance-oriented roles because she wants to work for the next 25 years."
Khan can currently be seen in Singham Returns', which has opened up at cinemas today.
