The opening is on par with Jai Ho which was the second biggest opener of the year but the difference will be that Singham Returns is a holiday release so collections should hold up through the day which should enable to film to easily get a higher first day number than Jai Ho.

Film is all about nexus of black money, politics. religious leaders and system. Guru ji (Anupam Kher) is an idealistic leader and is trying to change political system by fielding young candidates in election. This is causing discomfort among corrupt alliance partners like Baba (Amole Gupte) and Rao (Zakir Hussain). One policeman dies in mysterious circumstances and this incidence puts complete system in jeopardy. How Bajirao Singham exposes evils and villains form the rest of the story.

Performance wise Ajay Devgn is superlative and looks intense throughout. His dialogue delivery is impeccable and his action shots are breathtaking. Kareena Kapoor does not get meaty role and in that too she looks disinterested. Amole Gupte is good as Baba but at times he overacts. Zakir Hussain is good so is Anupam Kher. Mahesh Manjerkar is average in irrelevant role.

Editing by Steve Bernard is slick and cinematography is decent. Dialogue writers Sajid - Farhad does terrific job and Yunus Sajawal delivers interesting screenplay. Music is very boring and background scores screams unnecessarily. Art direction is good and so are costumes.

Director Rohit Shetty is the one who holds the complete film together and again displays right medley of entertainment. It seems that his super hit streak will continue for some time come.

Go for this solid content with loads of entertainment!

Singham a movie that was a complete paisa vasool entertainer came with a hard hitting message. Rohit Shetty's Singham Returns is also pretty much the same. No doubts for guessing it did involve a lot of cars being blown up and men flying, but that is the magic that Rohit Shetty has, he makes these visuals so believable that the audience is on the edge of their seats. Smartly Independence Day was the perfect day to release the movie, as it would completely evoke that feeling of patriotism in every Indian's heart.
Singham Returns is the sequel to the 2011 super hit Singham. Following the 2011 super hit movie Singham, the honest & fearless Bajirao Singham returns to Mumbai being a DCP in Mumbai Police. The story jumps into action when a police constable from Singham's squad is found dead having scampered away holding enormous sum of money and is charged of being corrupt. As the story unravels, Singham begins a quest to track a black marketer with tremendous influence within the political system. During this blockbuster journey, DCP Singham fights these influential rogues in the system with utmost honesty, courage & diligence. The resolute lion is now ready to roar again and face new adversities & challenges that cross his path to test his integrity and valor. With the love and respect that he earned, the complete law enforcement supports him throughout his ordeals.
Ajay Devgn who essays the central character of Bajirao Singham, looks dashing on screen. The feel of the Ajay Devgn, walking in a police uniform, with the heart pumping Singham background score is very intimidating. He does a fantastic job but doesn't offer anything new overall.
Kareena Kapoor who plays Singham's love interest in the movie Avni, is a loud character who looks pretty but is of no need or use in the entire course of the film. Rohit Shetty could have saved an easy 20 minutes of the movie, without any female protagonist.
Dayanand Shetty, sure is knocking down some doors again, but enjoys great screen space and does a convincing job, may be because of years of experience playing a cop (pun intended). Zakir Hussain plays a corrupt politician, though he does justice to his role, sadly he doesn't beat Prakash Raj's performance in the one before. Amole Gupte, plays a spiritual Guru, does a phenomenal job, so much so that you actually start to hate him.
Rohit Shetty doesn't go wrong in his direction and puts up a good show. Music does not have much to say about. The one romantic track in the film seems forced and thus conveniently avoidable. The lack of songs makes the movie more believable and thus doesn't seem lengthy.
All in all, the movie is good watch this independence weekend for you and your family. Apart for patriotism another feeling the audience will leave with from the movies is that of pride. Pride for the policemen we have in the country. We sure have had bad experience with cops, but little do we realize the perils of their profession. Here's a big salute to all our policemen, because of whom we are much safer than otherwise.
