😲 I just realised that Rishi Kapoor won a National Award for Best Child Artist for Mera Naam Joker in 1971 when he was 18 years old.
WHOA - talk about a nasty nepotistic industry. Disgusting.
Why do award shows put these star-kids on a pedestal? Especially with this Kapoor khandaan. 3 years later when he had "matured" he won Filmfare Best Actor for his second film Bobby where he played the lead for the first time.
Yes it was a good film, but Best Actor? Really? Not to mention he beat Amitabh Bachchan for Zanjeer that year - that was a massive shock to all.

And now years later, his son Ranbir Kapoor was put on a pedestal from the very first day he entered Btown. They awarded him Best Debut Male over the far more deserving Neil Nitin Mukesh who was the critics choice of that year. Then he got nominated for some crap films, and won a Filmfare Critics award for Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani + Rocket Singh. W*F.
I will admit, both father and son did eventually prove themselves and both have gone on to do great work, that I have thoroughly enjoyed. But why were they held up so high right from the beginning? Why this entitlement? So many chances given. It's just corrupt. 😭
