I never denied they can't be macho, of course they can be. I know several effeminate straight guys as well. But you know how they are widely believed to be like, thanks to the unforgivable stereotypes perpetuated by a lot of movies. A look at the TM's post will give you an idea as to how the majority of the audience perceives them as. And once they know the actor's orientation, they will let it overshadow the actor's "machismo" - this is just what I think, I'd love to be proved wrong.@blue: this is India. I think it will take a lot many years for India to psychologically accept homosexuals and be treated with equal amount of respect.
i am aware of the current homophobic perceptions of the people and the discrimination against them...which is why i feel that if an actor, declares himself to be gay ...gets ridiculed by people and shunned by them, one fine day wows them through sheer will and talent (i.e makes a gr8 film, gives a gr8 performance, wins awards and enough appreciation from the more "open minded" lot to change the homophobic sides perspective), that would be an amazing moment for the country and possibly the beginning of a more progressive outlook towards this issue...
