I dont think either of Ash's supposed comeback films are practical. Maniratnam wont waste his time on the film with her minus any big stars as the film wont be financially viable with only Ash as the biggest star in it. I think the Sanjay Gupta film is a carrot given to him by the Bachchans for Abhishek's film. Either Ash will back out or it will be scrapped. Once again a action film with a 40+ female in the lead doesnt sound like a viable option.

Aish was offered HNY but as chocolover said I think she rejected it b/c Abhi was in it and the whole SRK-Aish hype would basically sideline him. And he needs another Bol Bachchan-type massive hit right now.

She def has the hype, popularity and the offers. She chose strong, meaty characters b/c she can. Despite all her flops, she is STILL in demand. I mean SLB wanted her to the RL song, Farah offered a film, Sriram opposite Varun, etc. So many good things and this Sanjay movie looks like it'll be hatke and we'll get to see her do a desi-version of Salt. Besides, she has nothing to prove. The newer lot is taking over, she can do the films she wants to--enrich her inner actor and please the fans and ppl that wanna see her. I don't mind her doing off-beat, low-key indie films if she gets to act in bigger parts.

As for the Mani Ratnam film. Ppl in the South still love her. I didn't know till I saw all the Robot promotions. Plus, it's Mani Ratnam--he's a powerful story-teller and she has always try to take up diverse roles.

She's built a fab and diverse filmography so no complaints as to her films until now.

Also her last four films weren't exactly flops. Robot was the biggest blockbuster of 2010 and she had a pretty great role in it. Raavanan was a big hit too. Guzaarish might not have made 100 crore, but she won critical acclaim and awards for the role.

Coming back to her 'comeback', I think she's taking a risk. Sanjay Gupta's movie sounds exciting but he's not ever dependable. I cannot believe Ash would choose such a risky film over a safe film like Happy New Year which is a certified blockbuster. But this is how her choices have always been - unconventional and not driven by Box office prospects. She's doing Jazbaa and Mani Ratnam's films because the genres - action thriller drama and spy thriller - are something she's never attempted before.

But again, she's not a Rani or Preity for her fate to depend on one or two films. One film can't break her legacy. Rani and Preity's ever dependence on the Khans is what killed their careers. Aishwarya was long freed from them, she has survived for a decade and more without them and she has the gall to still reject a Shah Rukh Khan film, a film any current actress would've jumped at. That was unpredictable, but that's how Ash works.

😆
sanjay gupta and strong comeback.
how about disaster comeback.

she ain't some vidya balan or sridevi who can spell magic to all by their top acting.
ohhh dancing...you have to be in perfect shape to deliver those dances as well, if anyone catches any tires moving around your waist, chodenge nahi, acha dhulai karenge, especially on pinkvilla.
can you see how madhuri ki dhulai hoh rahi hai...she looks old with khans, she can't dance anymore, ...

and seriously , salman, amir or srk will drop everything and work with her, giving her equal footage in their movies. come again.😆

and even they do sign her in masala movie, do you think now all these jhatak matak dances will suit her? will she fit in?

and hritik is heading to hollywood. he is a goner.😆

so who is going to help her open her movies big? abhishek?

this is going to be fun, if she decides to make a comeback.

these 2 things can help her make a good/hit comeback:

1. bhansali - at least will give her a good role.
2. Khans or hritik roshan - can give her much needed hit.

no mani sir, guptas can give her hits, and if movie fails, you fail/disappear. see how tough going for mads. 😆even sri's EV, didn't get a good opening, but the word of mouth grew and whoever went to see this one, came out raving about it. simple sri won all with her power acting.

ash...and win with POWER acting...nahhh...

IMO this Sanjay Ghupta movie is a remake of sorts of the Angelina's SALT. I think if made right, the movie could be a hit and can do wonders for Aishwariya's career.
Aishwariya is the exact right person to replicate Angelina's act in SALT.

Sanjay gupta films are all duds, so i dont have hopes from that film either.

Aish is not a good actress to begin with, whether she gets a good script or not.

Aish has not made a hit on her own, all the hits were with the Khans or HR. Accept for Guru all her movies with Abhi were duds.

All the hype is mostly by her PR, they are really good at marketing her.

hey bri, sanjay gupta didn't direct ra 1, it was anubhav S. but close enough, both look like coming from same family tree. bhai bhai.
not only looks...both are equally bad.

Ash does have a hit on her own.

Aishwarya's Bride and Prejudice a hit. Back in 2004 it made over 25 million in collections - which was unheard of for an Indian actress back then, because the film didn't work in India everyone assumes it was a flop - but that is def not the case!

Like I said her movies usually don't work because they are risky cinema. I think anyone can star in a Kal Ho Na Ho or Hum Tum but to choose movies like Raincoat, Chokar Bali, Shabd - even Guzarish, Guru and raavan weren't exactly "mainstream roles". She's always taken the alternative path and I think that's her biggest strength. I mean look at it this way, here we are talking about her and she hasn't been on screen for 4 years and her last hit was in 2007. For me that is more significant than starting in hit movies
