Does anyone else find it strange that Alia Bhatt is playing a South Indian girl despite being fair skinned and Arjun Kapoor's playing a Punjabi munda despite being dark-skinned? Shouldn't actors have to look the part too? 😕

Edit: I only mention this because in the TRAILER, Arjun's mom refers to him as light-skinned and claims that most South Indian men are dark-skinned. Otherwise I wouldn't even be bringing up this topic.

But Arjun is a punjabi 😕 actually both his parents are punjabis. So which is more accurate, to have a punjabi play a punjabi or go by stereotype?

LMAO I hope not... I have nothing against dark-skinned people or fair-skinned people. I'm just saying that it seems strange when Arjun's mother is calling him fair-skinned in the trailer when he's not.

Punjabis aren't always fair skinned

PC is a Punjabi too

and south Indians aren't all dark skinned- kalki is south indian and she is as fair as it gets

imran khan 1 of the fairest actors in bolly played a south indian in GTPM lolz so south indians aren't always dark

TM I feel is not asking for actors/actress that are dark or fair skinned

What person means is that how is Arjun's character(Krish) referred to as fair skinned in movie when he seems more dark-skinned compared to Alia's character (Ananya)

Well Ananya is not conventional Tamilian girl... She is described in book to be totally different and is also beautiful and fair skinned

Also since book revolves around tale of Chetan Bhagat's love life, Chetan is comparatively more dark than his wife

Also regarding Krish's mother comment, what she meant was that her son is fairer than rest of Tamilian boys
