I've read the novel. There's absolutely nothing great to it...it's just a story of how these two people convince their family to get married. There's some funny jokes in the book, and it's a light read...nothing great, nothing horrible. Ok for time pass. Chetan Bhagat is a bad writer...but it's probably his best book. The book translates itself easily to a time pass film...but a lot of the book, I feel, is outdated today. The reviews say the film is very faithful to the book so if you felt there wasn't anything great to it, then it's because the original isn't that great in the first place. 😆
