India is keen to promote dual citizenship.. NRI money being invested in India... win-win.

Thats IMPOSSIBLE...Do u have an Indian passport or an OCI card?...OCI card is the green card...its not citizenship but u can do everything on it other than voting..and then there are certain positions that u cannot contest for...

Actually that's weird...Alia was born in India and her dad is an Indian citizen, making her an Indian citizen too. So if she has British citizenship, then she must have renounced Indian citizenship no?

Someone should check whether Alia has a work visa or she is illegally working in India.😆

Soni Razdan was born in Britain and might be a British citizen, hence even Alia is.

I think, her mother didn't renounce British citizenship. & Sana is saying Alia was born in the UK. Born in Britain.. Mom a British citizen.. any of these reasons helped her being a British citizen.

Ok, actually she might have never had Indian citizenship and her parents might have picked British citizenship over Indian one...because Google says she was born in Mumbai and I trust google 😆

the application is made before the child's 18th birthday.

Greedy people.😆 She could have easily taken Indian citizenship. She even gives statements that she's a *insert proud* British citizen.

Yeah, her father was practicing for badminton tournament there & she was born there but Deepika is Indian. Danish laws are very different. Atleast mother should be a Danish citizen to get Danish citizenship by virtue of birth.

That might make her international travels much easier but what kind of visa do these people need to stay in India? They are lucky that India does not require a passport for anything and can get most benefits other than the Indian ID card

That British system is a bit weird.. Even if Alia had been an Indian citizen but as her mother had a British citizenship, Alia's children would have been eligible to get citizenship😆

India doesn't recognize dual citizenship. However, most western nations USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand do recognize dual citizenship. So it is not uncommon for people to game the system. When you get naturalized as a citizen of another country, you are required to turn in your Indian passport. Many people do not turn in their passports. USA and Co don't care. They are Ok with you holding two passports and there are hundreds with dual citizenship. They only care if you were naturalized legitimately and don't give a damn if you don't surrender your Indian passport. I've heard of people holding onto their Indian passport. However, it is illegal in India. But I do not know how India catches and punishes these people.

India doesnt need dual citizenship for foreign investment. There are existing schemes for foreign citizens to invest in India. American desis do it and dont tell IRS bhaiyya. 😆
