Gautam (Saif) - Rahul (SRK)
Veronica (DPad) - Aman (Salman Khan)
Meera (Diana) - Anjali (Kajol)

Okayy personally I feel Cocktail was an extremely regressive movie and so was KKHH but I like them both😆.. Gautam liked the plain jane shalwar suit clad Meera and Rahul liked the saree clad Anjali.. why didn't he like Ajali when she was all the tom boyish? she was his best friend.. Anjali always liked him.. but then he went for the more hip Tina and when he saw Anjali all sexy in the saree he fell in love instantly.. 😕 Now that I'm a grown up and can actually pay attention to all these things I do feel Cocktail was a new age KKHH.. and if so many people pick on Cocktail why is KKHH considered a classic? Both of the "real" characters in the movie (Aman and Veronica) had to sacrifice while the selfish people had a win win situation.. how is that fair? maybe I'm, just digging too much into it but I feel Cocktail was a modernized version of KKHH.. if Cocktail was regressive so was KKHH.. If KKHH is a classic why aint Cocktail??? bolo bolo

PS: I like both the movies KKHH a tad bit more.. I would watch them regardless.. this is just for discussion purposes..

Rahul in KKHH didn't fall for Anjali just bcos she turned sexy and started wearing sarees and overall became more ladylike. It had more to do with his state of mind and perspective that changes in any normal person with age.
When he fell for Tina, at that time he was just another hormonal college guy who fell for a beautiful girl, that attraction deepened and turned into affection and they got together. Anjali for him was a bestie, at whom he couldn't look upon as a girlfriend, simply cos he had never looked at her from that angle. She was a best friend, anything else would be sort of blasphemy! 😆 One can understand his situation as in real life too we tend to squirm when someone teases us or links us romantically with a best friend.
8 years later however, Rahul wasn't that college going guy who had a frivilous view of the world. He had matured, he had a daughter, and with age your expectations from relationships and what you want in a life partner also change. Attractions become secondary, even if you are attracted to someone you do not get into a relationship with them suddenly. They can be a stimulus for a relationship but not it's base. Your compatibility with the other person, oneness of mind, equation and mutual bonding with them becomes the most important factor when determining whether or not to get into that relationship. Anjali filled the emotional void that had come over in Rahul's life in all these years. In case of people having their own children from a previous relationship, the equation of the child with your new potential partner also becomes an important consideration for a 'go ahead' which was also shown as Rahul realised Anjali and chhoti Anjali had a great bonding. Eventually a point came when he finally started looking at Anjali not as a bestie but rather as a woman, and accepted that maybe he really was attracted to her.

I can understand situation of Rahul. To love your best friend is extremely weird, love might blossom eventually (like in KKHH it grew like after 7 years) but to love a friend with whom you have shared your maximum secrets, confided everything about your life... its weird!😕

I don't know but aside from the comedy, I think that Cocktail was a disappointing film that offered absolutely nothing new in terms of story.

The only thing I didn't like about Cocktail was the end. Every time I watch it, I still think that, somehow, Veronica will win the guy.
Then I'm disappointed all over again...😆😆

KKHH was entirely different, IMO. There was more depth to the triangle. There were no "bad guys." Rahul actually fell in love with and married Tina. They had a life together and probably would have stayed together had Tina not died. I thought KKHH was a lovely film.

Cocktail is regressive but that is what happens even in this day and age. There are so many guys out there, especially where I live, who, despite being bought up in a Western culture, want an innocent virgin to take home to their mum.

Most guys want a Veronica to screw and a Meera to marry. Its patriarchal, mysogonisitic and downright appauling. I've noticed a lot of guys label girls who are like Veronica as a 'sl*g', 'wh**e', yet they seem to think its perfectly acceptable for them to shag around. The truth is, it makes them the male equivalent, male wh**e.

P.S: I wanted Gautam to end up alone. Both girls should have dumped him. Now that would have been a much better ending.
