SRK never played any role in kajol's career. It was producers who approached her to play role opposite SRK. I dont find any contribution of shahrukh in kajol's career and to do favor first one need to be established actor. And 90s was full era of struggle for shahrukh and in same time kajol was also making her career.

And if u remove kajol from any of her epic film result wont be same. Why shahrukh failed with katty? Any horny, po*ny and kiss scene with kattny not able to create same magic and i want srk to try open bed scene with katty in his next and i bet katty cant replace kajol even after that.

Fanna was equally kajol's film. It was story and music which made it successful. Aamir was not so great during fanna time. He was coming after disaster of mangal pandey with rani.

She is not beautiful and her only plus point is her talent. And no shahrukh deserves even 1% credit from her success. They both worked with each other. Madhuri, juhi, rani, preity and all other younger actress who r looking like shahrukh's daughters worked with him and even tried hard to be like kajol but magic is still missing.

Even kajol worked with other actors and film were successful- gupt, pyar kia to darna kya, pyar to hona hi tha, hum apke dil me rehte hai, fanna, Ishq, yeh dillagi, dushman.

Kajol sitting at home much better than shahrukh playing deepika's side hero.

For people who think SRK/KJO made Kajol a star, do your research. She delivered many successful movies and had appreciated performances BEFORE KKHH and the other movies that followed.

Kajol doesn't experiment? LOL, She dared to do a villainous role in a time where no mainstream leading lady would do a role like that. Its because of Gupt that trend really kicked in.

She may not have experimented as much as we would like her to, but she was working in the 90's there weren that many opportunities at that time anyway.

I think to credit SRK/KJO/Yash Chopra completely for Kajol's success just shows what kind of low and regressive thinking people have for todays actresses. Its not surprising that people think actresses are disposable and have a short shelf life.

Whether people like or not, Kajol is a star and she has one of the strongest fan bases, I mean we are talking about someone whose had a much more fruitful career post marriage and children then the so called "legend" Madhuri Dixit.

At least with Kajol, the number of people who would have bought that SRK-Kajol fell in love & had to be together would have been more...especially considering that many of their fans have at some wished they would ditch Ajay and Gauri and get together in real life. That being said, KANK itself was a very flawed film and in the hands of Karan became even worse. I'm glad Kajol didn't do it because it would have ruined their pairing completely, but considering the "risky theme" of the film, it's easy to see why Karan and SRK tried everything to convince Kajol to do the film. Juhi, Madhuri were already stars by the time SRK showed up. SRK-Kajol pretty much started out together and became successful with the same films.

There are parts of MNIK with them that I liked (the whole Tere Naina/Sajda song is adorable and that proposal scene is cheesy but gets me), but I think that film is Rizwan's story more than anything...I don't even consider it a love story really. Kajol had very little to do in it. Karan, for the first time in all their films together, sold her character short, I felt. But what I loved about MNIK was the offscreen promotions. Their offscreen friendship/interactions were the most fun.

Anywyas, I kinda wish that with all these new, better directors here now, it would be interesting to see them again. I can easily see them in a Do Dooni Chaar type film.

OT : Guys pls no personal attacks...I think Kajol fans have been lying low for long now and most of us never bothered to comment while her name was being slandered in topics after topics...Dont resort to mud slinging now..Keep calm and support ur fav,..No need to stoop low and abuse etc..Most of her fans have maintained their calm in the forum till now...pls let it continue that way

i am going to say this now. that i enjoyed kajols dushman and hum aap keh dil meh rehte hain and gupt, MINUS srk. but i don't dig her performances in MNIK, fanaa, k3g . oh well but the movie k3g itself was a trash. she was awarded for these movies cos of her popularity--thts what i feel. i even found her performance in we are family - way over the top.

her movies with salman, her pati, were all at best, average.

and yes, here in overseas, kajol and srk jodi is huge, huge. i am also gonna say, that at times kajol even stole the scenes from srk in his movies. i am not going to deny that. but overall , i do find her over rated as an actress.

Theirs is the last jodi of our times that is considered iconic and legendary, whether people think they're overrated or not is a completely separate story. Every movie they did together turned gold. They worked together because they enjoyed it and they realized that working together was good for their careers.

There is a reason why SRK was desperate to have Kajol in that trash KANK.
