Not just media hype. Ranveers's association with Deepika, Ramleela's success, huge promotions, 2800 screens, Priyanka as heroine, hit music, out and out masala genre... it was not wrong to expect at least a hit tag from Gunday. Who says newcomers do not get big successes? Look at Ranjhana.. not even a masala movie, a hero written off as rickshawala, a flop actress, nonconventional genre.
If Gunday ends up as being as anything else than hit then it will definitely be considered as an underperforming film.

Besharam was a terrible movie so it crashed completely and yep, Ranbir lacks masses support, but even without that, he is still way far ahead of the others right now. Partly, because Ranbir has been here much longer.

Besharam had negative press from starting!

But still it earned 17th crore on firstday which is huge thing!
