The only time I felt oh why did this happen was when Alia started talking about her childhood all of a sudden..but I think that was her explaining why she didn't run away when she had the chance!

I think the kidnapping thing took time because they misled them with the whole Calcutta thing..plus hindustani police hai..thodi realism bhi maangte che😆

I personally thought Alia's delivery of her past to Mahabir was soul wrenching and the way her revelation was written , the words and the way she delivered them did send a sharp chill down my spine.I felt my heart in my mouth. Randeeps breakdown outside that house in the mountains was beautiful . I wanted more of them , have to agree , wanted more focus on their gradual progression of bond and stuff. She made me cry however with her last two scenes after she comes back and her confrontation with her family , and her breakdown after leaving again , I cried like a baby there. She was a revelation . Just like Deepika was in Cocktail when many thought shes overhyped , including me. :)

I disagree with both of you. I never liked the ending of the telefilm the film is inspired from and neither did I like the ending of the movie because..(highlight from next line to read)
TROLL ALERT-Haven't seen the movie yet. LOL TROLL.

It was..it totally was! My point was that that was the only scene which can be thought of as disjointed..I mean why is she opening up all of a sudden..shouldn't she be scared of them?
But that also was a progression in the sense..that it's been show she likes talking..and it's probably her way of telling them why she didn't run away!

I also liked that there was no romantic relationship per se..the whole plan nahin hai thing was beautifully captured!

And also..it reminded me of the holidays we had before flying to the destination was an option..It reminded me of my road trips to Rajasthan and Himachal..and I'd always want to capture all those nazaare..now I can just watch Highway😆

Highway First Day Collection Report
Saturday 22 February 2014 11.00 IST

Highway started slowly but picked up well in the evening in metro multiplexes. The film manage to record decent collections in places like Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore. The first day collections are around 3.25-3.50 crore nett.

The first day collections are okay as the release was only on around 700 screens and restricted to mainly multiplexes. In fact the horror film Darr @ The Mall had a wider release going to over 1100 screens. The film did not do well outside metros but that is expected and release was also restricted outside the major cities.

The film is sure to see growth on Saturday and it remains to be seen how much, it should go to over 4 crore nett but if it can get near the 5 crore nett then the film can really go somewhere.

The thing is, it was really sad and you do really feel for the character. All I wanted to say was, it could have been better. Like in the telefilm, it totally makes sense when she tells it and she doesnt have as many dialogues as Alia had. But still it was powerful enough that I still remember how she told it to him. If you compare, Randeep's scene about his mother was totally heart-wrenching, and he doesnt even have as many dialogues. I was just comparing the two scenes, Randeep's was more powerful for me.

Did anyone else feel she was getting raped in the back of the truck first time when they are transporting her? I was absolutely sure about it and got so tensed. Then it slowly became clear it wasnt so. I was relieved.

Randeep's performance was really good..I had some trouble adjusting to the Haryanvi dialect but that was just the beginning(when he was in that house on the outskirts of Delhi and had a fight with the goons)..his breakdown made me want to go hug him like Alia did..

I haven't seen the telefilm..maybe I'll watch it now..I was reading Imtiaz's interview y'day..there's so much honesty when he talks about it..

I didn't think that when she was in the truck..it had crossed my mind when they put her on the back seat of the car right in the beginning! There's this one scene where that guy is feeling Alia's ass which is so creepy

Y'know I over analyze and try to read deep into things..but this is such a simple movie..and such a beautiful one

Same, I couldn't understand what they were talking when they were in the house. That accent was too heavy for me.

Did they show her when she was in the back of the car? They showed her when they were transporting her to Rajasthan. Right after the guy fondles her. In the truck, her face is all stuffed and she saying no no no no and they show just her upper part. I really felt uncomfortable suring that part and was pretty sure stuff happened. But when I saw later scenes, I was comforted to know I was wrong. Veera was probably just scared for life in that moment knowing she is going far away from her family and security. I too think its a pretty simplistic story-telling, Imtiaz would shove such scenes in it.

They show her being shoved into the back..and the first thing that crossed my head was 'are they going to rape her?'
Oh! I know what you're talking about..No, I didn't feel anything happened when I was watching the movie but the scene was pretty disconscerting..I mean he wanted to, that's why he removed the cloth from her mouth..She kept saying no because he kept touching her lips and was making remarks..And then Mahabir came back(this happened at Ajmer Sharif)..so he had to stop!
I felt really angry when Mahabir told Veera dhang ke kapde pehna kar after he'd slapped that guy(in their first hideout-right after she'd run away)..It just reflected the general thought process-ladki ko chedha hai, toh ladki ki galti hogi
