All mainstream, non intellectual, mass entertainment films. but quality

I will disagree there
I personally enjoyed Chennai Express and K3 and know a lot of people who enjoyed Dhoom 3 or Bodyguard or heck even Jab Tak Hai Jaan.😛
On the other hand I have never been able to finish Darr or Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke.

Quality is inversly propotional to entertainment.
Or shud I say BO is bigger than critical acclaim.

Or may be popcorn is better than brown cookies.

Lol i actually hated YJHD when i saw it for the first time cos i had high expectations from Ayaan after WUS..But when i saw it on TV for the second time cos i had nothing better to do, i found myself liking it😆 Its good time pass and i genuinely think Ranbir-DP were good in it😆

when salman does a HSSH it is average
when he does a Dabanng 2 or ready its superhit

when SRK does a swades,it is flop
when he does a chennai express,it is BB

we cannot blame them only
Audience also is partly blamed

Not really..It all depends on how well you balance the two..3 Idiots is far from what you call an art house cinema..It wasn't exactly an intellectual film cos there were a lot of brainless scenes thrown in-the delivery scene for instance😆 Yet, it was supremely entertaining and managed to get critical acclaim too..Main reason why i always believe Hirani is the best director in Bollywood..He knows exactly how to balance entertainment and intellectual cinema😆

P.S.I thought Kashyap managed to do well with Dabangg..I loved it tbh but Besharam was such an epic fail😆

HSSH is a blockbuster now
&
On the other hand
Besharam was a Disaster whereas Barfi was a Superhit
or
Ra.One was barely a Hit while CDI was a Superhit
or
Khiladi 786 was a flop whereas OMG was a superhit
Audience pay for tickets, why would they go to watch something they find unappealing just because a critic gave it a quality certificate?

i did not say put all blame on audience
they are partly to blamed
people do watch these massala movies and they like it

and i don't believe in critics nowadays
a few bucks and 4 stars *cough**cough*Adarsh

lootera was a flop and GM 100 cr
we cannot blame sona for doing 10 rowdy rathores over lootera

gradually it will fade
massala era is geting over
all of these movies look he same
its getting repetitive now

I don't think they care about quality anymore... I mean what else can explain disasters like Dhoom 3, Chennai Express, and Jai Ho? I can't believe I paid my hard-earned money to see these films. It's disgusting, I feel as I've been robbed. Whatever, I'm done with these three Khans anyways...

TBH at this point the younger generation's film choices interest me more- DBB, BV, NH10, Gundey, Haider, Motwane's next, romcoms like DEI, Bewakoofiyan etc. At least there is some variety in their films. The elder actors seem to be doing the same type of movies with only with one thought in mind- it should break records. And sadly, however bad the films are, they do end up breaking records bcos of great marketing and starpower and encouraging actors to continue with trash. Though fate of many masala potboilers in 2013 has also proved that you cannot flog a formula for too long, take advantage of the star'/masala movies' fanbase and exploit them. At the end of the day film needs to have some entertainment value, some newness, freshness to it.

That said, I'm looking forward to PK, Raees and Fan amongst the upcoming movies of the Khans, and hoping that these films do well if they are genuinely good, hence encouraging actors to chose quality and not just run after records. After all, it is when refreshing good films don't do well that stars also feel the need to chase the conventional route to get back into the game.
