For someone who has hit a double century this year (CHENNAI EXPRESS), came close to scoring another before that (YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI), had a comfortable 100 crore kick-start to 2013 (RACE 2) and now has yet another 100 crore success (RAM-LEELA) under her belt, it seems rather surprising that she isn't fretting over making it four in a row. However, this is what Deepika Padukone asserts even as she ends the year with her films making over 600 crores at the box-office in a single year.
"But that's a fact, that's the way I am," says Deepika who would next be seen in FINDING FANNY, "There could be many films with the potential of 100 crore in the making but then I don't want to be a decorative piece in any of those. I just don't want to be singing and dancing without adding value to a film. I would rather want to be a part of a successful film and for me, it would be that film where I am creatively satisfied, critics appreciate what I have done and audience applauds too. This for me is the best feeling as an actor."
"If the film is liked then audience would anyways make a film of mine cover the kind of distance that it deserves. However, I don't want to be associated just with the 100 crore club and known only for that. Yes, I like it when people have such good expectations from me and my films. However I don't start counting the numbers before starting shoot for my films. It doesn't work this way," she continues.
What works for her is films where she gets appreciation as well as moolah coming her and the film's way.
"Something that has happened this year with my films. There have been films in the past when people have said that '100 crore toh kar li lekin picture mein mazaa nahi aaya'. That was not the case with these films of mine. This is what I aspire for," smiles Deepika before signing off.
