Deepika Padukone: I just don't want to be known for 100 crore club

She isn't though. She has improved quite a lot in terms of acting.This is coming from someone who thought Deepika was strictly ALRIGHT in Cocktail when the whole world including this forum was going ga ga over her performance in that film. I remember promising to never watching a DP film at the theaters after the trauma Bachna Haseeno,Love Aaj Kal and Break ke Baad inflicted upon me. But I recently watched Ram Leela at the theater and Chennai Express on netflix. Boy oh boy has the girl improved by leaps and bound or what? She's quite good now. So I say she's much more than a 100 crore actress whatever that silly tag means. Her voice modulation has vastly improved. There are no awkward gaps in her dialogues anymore either. Of course, there's always room for improvement but I personally think she's headed in the right direction.

She has improved loads. I think Race 2 is still a movie this year where she was just there for dancing and glamour. But after that, she shocked me with CE and Ram Leela. From someone who was part of that awful movie Houseful and had almost nothing to do, she's come a long way.

^^ Also, Khelein hum jee jaan se is another example where she acts really good, Lafangey Parindey too. She has been improving herself for quite some time now. Hopefully, she will keep it up. Improvement is a process, and she is going the right way, as Dexy says above.

Race 2 was a disgrace. No wonder she wanted to leave that movie and never come back. 😆 Why was that movie even made?

Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one who thought Deepika proved in Cocktail that she could 'act', not 'act stupendously'. She basically moped in the second half of that film

I have a feeling that perhaps before shooting these films, she probably had no idea that ALL of them were going to do 100 crore. So now she's in that #1 crore actress position and has no idea what to say about it😆 But i liked her last sentence, where she says her efforts were still appreciated in those big movies. I hope she at least makes sure to do that in her future films.
