Ram-Leela- What a terrible film. There's a song within like every ten to fifteen minutes of the movie, the character sketch is pathetic, without any substance. Though its refreshing to see Leela's character to be bold and outspoken and not an epitome of purity but it's very limited. The love between Ram and Leela looks incomplete because Deepika is busy pecking on Ranveer's lips like a woodpecker while Ranveer is busy ogling at her physical appearance. I haven't read Romeo-Juliet so I don't know whether it was the same in Shakespeare's version with more focus on lust than love, but I found it very vague to see both Ram Leela lovey dovey within two minutes of their meeting. Not sure whether it was love at first sight, but it was for sure, lust at first sight. I watched this movie in a pirated print and fortunately the print stops working after interval so my review is based only on the first half of the movie. I don't intend to see the second half as I have been bored to death seeing the same old stuff in this movie.
The biggest asset of the movie is it's cast, the ensemble is brilliant! Supriya Pathak, Richa Chadhdha, Barkha, Gulshan Devaiah and Sharad Kelkar have done a fantastic job as the supporting cast. Ranveer is brilliant as the Gujrati chokra..from his accent to his mannerisms, everything is really good.But I am kinda disappointed with Deepika. I remember opening a topic appreciating her after the trailer of this film was out and so had huge expectations from her but she wasn't as good as I had expected. Again, I am saying this only on the basis of the first half of the film but the biggest fault I found with Deepika was her accent..suddenly she would get the accent and suddenly she would speak normally. I am not saying she was bad, she was good but nothing extraordinary like I imagined her to be in the film. Honestly, I liked her more in Chennai Express, especially because she acted more naturally in that film.
I know my review is half baked because it's not about the whole film but I seriously couldn't sit through the next one and a half hours watching the hamfest.
