No regrets...I wonder why on IF people act as if they were scandalized by one kiss. 😆It wasnt a great movie but SRK made it work for me.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan was a dreamy Swan song. Most Yash Chopra films are like that. The epic love, engaged heroine, 10saal ka intezaar everythinh was there.
But it wasnt for everyone.
Only those who are genuinely superoptimistic ot die hard romantica could enjoy it.
Unlike say YJHD or DDLJ those films are more easy to connect to

No Im not comparing Lootera to Jab Tak Hai Jaan. I believe Lootera is a substantially superior film in all regards, direction-cinematography-music-acting-editing-pace, etc.

However, the film flopped big time.

Why?

Jab Tak Hai Jaan for the most part received very good word of mouth and wasnt trashed critically like Ra.One was.

It couldve done better, substantially better, but at the end of the day the movie was neither as good as it was advertised, nor was it as bad as its worst critics make it out to be.

JTHJ could have easily done another 20 crs at the BO if there wasnt the following factors:
-Competition with SOS
-Death of Bal Thakerey thus closure of cinema halls in Maharashtra for the first 5 days of the movie's release
-Death of Ponty Chadha thus closure of the biggest multiplex chain in North India the first weekend of its release
After seeing what happened with CE vs JTHJ I started believing that a film like people have their own destiny. Anyways the BO fate isnt related to whether people over here liked the movie or not. But I feel for some weird reason this movie has become what RGV ki Aag is for critics. 😆But there have been worse movies.

I feel bad for SRK, so much hard work and energy and it seems wasted because of how terribly Ra.One was trashed.

I do agree Ra. One was below average in almost every category, except music.

It still earned its way too 100 crore and I believe recovered its cost.

Anyways yes...Ra1 was actually worse than JTHJ. SRK's biggest blunder. Its a miracle he survived to tell the tale.

Jthj was just shocking for me, I couldn't believe it was a yash chopra film, the story made no sense and more than anything there was zero chemistry between shahrukh and Katrina.

K3 trailer got a good response in the cinema hall when I went to see CE. That is what matters for a good opening. I think it will open well. Rest ofcourse depends on WOM.
