Whereas the rest of the "young generation", is much younger than him and have done a lot more fewer films.

Varun-Sid- have only 1 film release.
Ranveer has 4
Arjun Kapoor has 2
Sushant has 2
Ayushman has 2
ARK only has one film as a lead, and barely 2 other films...

How is that a fair comparison? I think Ranbir is OUT of the young group.How long is he going to be in the young generation? He is 31 years old for god sakes. By the time Salman, SRK, Hrithk were that age they were thrice the star that Ranbir is.

Ranbir is just overhyped, that's it. He is not that much of a big star. He cannot be included in the young group and he certainly cannot be included in the iconic group either. He's just drifting in the middle.

Great post and a very fair assessment of reality. Ranbir is sort of all by himself the middle. He is certainly not a peer to the Khans, or even Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar who are the other biggies of that generation. Hrithik is older and is still largely considered a bigger star (and is another one all on his lonesome) But on the other hand Ranbir is older and more experienced than the so-called newbies of the last couple of years so that's not completely fair comparison either. Imran is the closest thing he has to a true peer actually.

If we're all being honest, I think it's fair to say Ranbir is a big star, but he's not a mega-star, which is what BOI is trying to say. Superstardom does not come easy and it's a long, hard slog to the top, much longer than seven years anyway. In any case, what's the rush? I don't get this burning desire to crown him king of the crop so soon in his career, he has all the time in the world to get to the pinnacle and he will. But only if he does it right.

its not his fault imraan khan, raj babbars son, mithuns son, that tv actor who acted in shaitaan,

raj kumar yadav of MMS raagini, muzaamil that model, sonakshis brother, jacky bhagnani all these actors could

not keep up with ranbirs pace. these are the guys who debuted around same time, but only

imraan n ranbir could forge ahead. and now even imraan has lagged behind so it looks like

its just ranbir. in the movie industry hundreds of newcomers come. and a couple debut every year.

Its not about pace, its about luck, pr, and a number of other things. Those people you mentioned are nobodies and they don't have the kind of power that the Kapoors have over Bollywood. They may belong to Bollywood families, but they are not powerful.

Its even unfair to compare him to Ranveer...Ranbir has done thrice the amount of films that Ranveer has.

srk had nobody , preity had nobody, yet they made it...

tanisha was number one kajols sis, randhir kapoor was raj kapoors son, rishi kapoors bro,

so was chimpu kapoor...a nd shashi kapoors sons, where are they?

jacky bhagnani is a big producers son, raj babbar was a big star so was mithun...

ranveer is doing well, i dont count him with jacky and all

true...the failure of Besharam does prove that Ranbir isn't the mega star he was perceived to be lately...of course he's a star and famous among the youth but still not big enough to get a great opening at single screens...these are valid points...they say that you know how big the star is when his movies do well at single screens in all small cities and towns...it has taken so many years for the Khans to establish that fan base...it's impossible for someone like Ranbir to achieve it in such a short span of time...

for example SRK is a mega star..Ra.One was crap and had horrible WOM too..still it did 100 crore...that proves that his fans will watch his movies even if the content is bad...Besharam had similar WOM...struggling to reach 60...that says it all...

I like ranbir..he's a good actor but not the super star the media was claiming him to be...
