PPNH -Game Changer for Shahid Kapoor ?

Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz's Phata Poster Nikhla Hero is all set to release tomorrow and there is a certain buzz around the film. The film is touted as a comeback film for Shahid Kapoor, who despite all the talent and popularity has missed the box office bandwagon till now, but with the buzz around PPNH it looks like Shahid is all set to arrive with bang at the box office.

To know more about the buzz and positivity around the Rajkumar Santoshi's film we asked leading distributor and exhibitor Akshaye Rathi, Here are the excerpts of our conversation with Mr. Rathi ( @akshayerathi ) -

Q) Your Take on the buzz of Phata Poster Nikhla Hero?

Well the buzz is quite good primarily because of three factors

a)The music has really caught on with the audience with Pritam giving another great album Mein Rang Sharbaton Ka ,Mere Agal Bagal and Dhating Naach have become hit numbers ensuring that the film gets a good initial.

b) The trailer and promos have really worked well with the audience of every age group and the promotion has also been quite good to ensure that the buzz is mainatined.

C) After Chennai Express,this is the first film which promises to be a clean family entertainer which everybody right from children to family audience can watch this film and enjoy.

These factors should ensure a good opening for the film

Q) Will it be Shahid's highest grosser?

Without a doubt yes as it only needs 41 cr to do that( His highest being Kaminey-40.5cr) The film has enough fire in its engine to do that .This film should be Shahid Kapoor's big comeback.

Q) Can it be Rajkumar Santoshi's Highest Grosser till date?

Yes as it needs around 62-63 cr to do that ! His highest is his last venture APKGK (62 cr) RajKumar Santoshi is a veteran in handling commercial and clean entertainers.This has ensured that the family audience come in to watch a movie along with the usual youth which should boost the collections

Q) Can it be Shahid's first 100 cr grosser?

The chances are slim but yes and for that the film has to have extraordinary content to ensure that it has strong legs at box office.

Total Cost : 40cr (budget) + 8-10cr (P&P)- 48-50 cr

Release Size : Approximately 2100-2200 screens ( The release size could have been 2500 however the tremendous business of Grand Masti has made them to hold on to that film) However this release size is enough to register a good opening provided the occupancy is good

Music Rights : Since Tips have themselves done the music distribution part and music has become popular so the recovery has been good on this front

Satellite Rights : The film has not been sold yet but as the film is a clean family entertainer the film will fetch a good satellite price whenever its sold.
