Wiki says 5 IITs do accept AIEEE score.

Introduced in the year 2002, this national level competitive test is for admission to various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, mainly 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and 5 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs).

Either IITs don't used to accept AIEEE score during his time, or he didn't rank 7th there. Not saying he's lying. He never speaks (Read, brags) about his ranking etc. in his exclusive interviews with well known publications. It's printed only on those interviews taken through tele- conversations/press conference or quoted from other exclusive interviews. I blame the press if ranked 7th in AIEEE is not true.

I think back then IITs had their own IIT-JEE not like today,so AIEEE was for all engineering colleges except IIT,but even if he had 7 rank in AIEEE then too I guess South has some of the best engineering colleges.

I should have read your comment before posting the above comment 😆

Its ok ya happens, had some friends preparing for IITs back then, but then too someone with 7th rank back then would never choose Delhi, they use to pick NITs,or maybe the trend has changed from then.🤓

Mogs - the AIEEE is accepted for IIIT (with 3 Is) not IIT (with 2 Is). Different type of institute. 😆

In my time and till recently IITs have only had one entrance exam - IIT-JEE. Don't know what the admission system to IITs is now.

Back in the day when DCE used to be affiliated with Delhi University - the admission process was the following

1. 85% of seats reserved for Delhi domicile (Sushant won't qualify) - admission through Common Entrance Exam (CEE)
2. 15% of seats for others (Sushan'ts category) - admission through AIEEE

I'm totally dating myself but there was a sense of history to DCE when it was located at Kashmiri Gate - with the location and name change that is all gone. It used to be Delhi University's only engineering college - now it's whatever.

With an AIEEE 7th rank any student will opt for NITs as they are ranked just below the IITs. But he might have opted for a Delhi college to pursue his acting dreams(doing theater, learning dance etc).

Nowadays its like this JEE-Main and JEE-Advance.Everyone takes JEE Main but only the top 1.5 lakh students who qualify JEE-Main are eligible for taking JEE-Advance which is used to take admission in IITs.If someone doesnt want to take JEE-Advance they can take admission in any engineering colege based on JEE-Main rank.Apparently this new system has a lot of loopholes and stuff.

Yeah thats what I said people use to prefer NITs after IIT.But as you said the theatre and extra curricular culture isn't as good as anywhere else as it is in Delhi so probably he chose that.

I have a feeling that people who are not from Delhi and surroundings just do not get how prestigious DCE/DTU is. It's kind of like how some people would ditch IIM Indore to go study at FMS DU. It's not about acting dreams, it's actually about the sort of opportunities you get to network in business and technology and a stellar alumni network.

None of the NITs compare. They are all renamed RECs - that's not even in the same league as DCE.
