Madras Cafe Gets Benefit Of Janmashtami On Wednesday

Madras Cafe has held steady on the weekdays as it got a boost on Tuesday evening and Wednesday due to Janmashtami. The film has grossed around 30.50 crore nett in six days.

The trend of the film is very similar to Ranjhanaa released a couple of months back and that film went on to gross around 60 crore nett but that is unlikely to happen to Madras Cafe not only due to the fact there is a good flow of releases over the next few backs but also because Madras Cafe is mainly holding at the good premium multiplexes and these high grossing cinemas tend to come down quickly.

The collections of Madras Cafe were down at many centres on Monday and those places cold well see another big drop today (Thursday) again.

*Sigh* It was one awesome week.
It was known the film will have target audience. But the response overall it got was overwhelming and unbelievable.I loved the movie, thats what matters.
The 'before release' atmosphere was very negative all over with all the bad comments for him and tearing/ smashing protests all over.
But John and Shoojit stayed true and honest to their vision and turned the tables and backed the film. John said,'Even if film makes 1 cr, I will be happy because we had to make this film.'

Some toad have even apologized LOL.😆

John has earned lots of respect by letting his work talk.👍🏼 It was indeed a brave attempt. Some stories need to be told and heard. I understand why Shoojit took 7 yrs to make it. The way story was told was key and the casting was so perfect, everyone justified their role.
I want this film to be a hit so that film makers don't succumb to tried and tested formula of movie by the fear of failure of unconventional cinemas.

And atlast I met him. I got one opportunity to tell him how much I love and respect him. I couldn't have asked for more.❤️

There were 4 JA films this year...all have released . Next film's shooting hasn't even started. I feel like taking E-sanyaas.

needs 45cr to breakevn semi hit and around 55cr to get a clean hit tag

i m predictin lifetime will b around 40-42cr verdict likely to be avg satyagargh can spoil the collections of madras cafe

Shoojit Sircar's Madras Cafe has found its voice among the audience and with critics. The film has collected around 33 crore. Made on a modest budget of around 35 crore (inclusive of prints and advertising), its first week collections are promising. The satellite rights of the film are likely to net around 10 crore, but the returns from other ancillary rights like music and home video are negligible.

Madras Cafe First Week Box Office Collection

Madras Cafe has collected a very well 33.5 crore nett in its 1st week at box office. Film collected around 2.25 crore nett on Thursday as per estimates. Film remained extremely steady in weekdays to put up such numbers. Film collected a very well 21.4 crore nett in opening weekend and further around 12.15 crore nett in weekdays. Film has received very good feedback from the audiences and may collect well in coming week also.

Madras Cafe has collected decently till now mainly in multiplexes. Film business in single screen is below average to average. Film should retain significant screens at least in plexes in 2nd week despite the release of Satyagraha. Satyagraha is having a big release on this Friday and it will hamper the progress of Madras Cafe in coming days. Madras Cafe will definitely cross the 40 crore nett mark in its lifetime, but its main aim would be to touch or cross 50 crore nett, which will be a good achievement by the film.

Collection Breakup -

Friday - 5.21 crore nett.

Saturday - 7.28 crore nett.

Sunday - 8.9 crore nett.
Monday - 3.03 crore nett.

Tuesday - 3.11 crore nett.
Wednesday - 3.75 crore nett.
Thursday - 2.25 crore nett (Estimates).

Total - 33.53 crore nett.
