Chennai Express is New Record Breaking Box Office Express.

From last Thursday (Paid Preview), Chennai Express after getting released has almost broken all possible record till now. Film is just on record breaking spree and should be renamed as Record Express as far as box office is concerned. Film is not only breaking records in India, but also in overseas. Film is heading for a monster hit and one of the top all time grosser ever. Let's looks up some of the important records Chennai Express has broken through the last 3-4 days of business.

Records that are created by Chennai Express till now -

1. Biggest Release in India with 3650 screens and in Overseas with 700 screens.

2. Highest Paid Preview (Thursday) in India collecting 6.5 crore nett.

3. Biggest Opening Day (Friday) in India collecting 33.1 crore nett.

4. Biggest Single Day (Friday) in India collecting 33.1 crore nett.

5. Biggest Second Day (Saturday) in India collecting 28.05 crore nett.

6. Biggest Sunday in India collecting 32.5 crore nett.

7. 3rd Biggest Single Day (Sunday) in India collecting 32.5 crore nett.

8. Fastest Film to cross INR 50 crore in Overseas ($ 8.25 Million) in Opening Weekend itself. Literally broke all opening record in every major Overseas Circuit.

8. 2nd Highest Non-Holiday Monday in India collecting 12.5 crore nett (approx).

Records that are Chennai Express are still chasing -

1. Biggest First Week Collection of Ek Tha Tiger of 135.19 crore nett. It should be broken easily by end of this week (Thursday - Independence Day included).

2. All Time Top Grosser of 3 Idiots of 202.5 crore nett.

3. All Time Top Distributor Share of Ek Tha Tiger of 111 crore.

4. Worldwide Top Grosser of all time of 3 Idiots of 385 crore.

There are more records which are also CE chasing, but mainly these above records that are of most interest for this bullet train. Let's wait and watch whether this train can be the biggest express in history of Bollywood or not. So far so good!

Chennai Express Has Strong Monday

Tuesday 13th August 2013 10.30 IST

Chennai Express collected around 12 crore nett on Monday taking its business to 104 crore nett. It is crossed 100 crore nett in four days plus paid previews. The collections on Monday were rock steady in Muslim centres as they normally are for a few days post Eid while others did show a noticeable drop. It was the third highest Monday ever after Ek Tha Tiger and Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewani.

But with Muslim dominated areas being down just 50% from that huge Friday it came out with a strong Monday. There will be another noticeable drop on Tuesday as collections come down in Muslim dominated areas but Thursday is national holiday so that will be up and it will also help on Wednesday evening.

The film is probably looking at a record breaking first week of around 140 crore nett. Ek That Tiger last year in Eid week collected 143 crore nett in nine days and 128 crore in 7 days.
