It may not have been a huge hit, but I am sure it wasn't a disaster.
But that's besides the point, people in this forum doesn't seem to understand that movies like Black, Lootera and Guzarish are not meant to be commercial successes. Even despite the flop status the appreciation they have gathered is almost thrice the amount that a successful film gets.
Why is everyone here so obsessed with numbers? its almost sickening.

Hahaha i agree it is sickening at times bt arent we talking about nos here.(whether RL will be able to pull crowds or not..).i mentioned Guzarish just to show dat a Guzarish doesnt make Hrithik any less crowd puller...he might have given flops like Guzarish or even Kites..bt he has a BB like Agneepath too...so lets not judge Deepika acc to RL 's BO verdict...dats it...😊

Agree wid what Starstruck said dats how bollywood works...here nos matter more dan anything...😊

Definitely. Ram Leela is going to test Deepika's star power that she has after 2-3 hits (with well established actors) if she can carry a film on her shoulder. Lootera dint work at BO so Ranveer needs RL to work.
Lets see how it goes :)

@starstruckk Nobody is denying that numbers are important. I never said they weren't. I just said that some people on this forum are too obsessed with them.
My main point here is, you cannot throw out movies like Black or Lootera just because they weren't commercially successful.
Rani was hailed as the Queen when Black came out even though the movie flopped. Also, Bollywood awards always worship the box office. But Rani still swept all the awards that year, she went against Preity Zinta who had the very successful Veer Zara on her side.
My main point here is that at the end of the day CONTENT does matter and does play a role. Its not "only" about numbers.
If Deepika gives a strong performance in Ram Leela, I doubt the failure or success of the movie will affect her.

Lol what test. It will release ,few ppl will say wah wah and then it will flop. All Bhansali movies, albeit being beautifully made, are snooze fest. But the heroines will look ethereally beautiful,so am sure even DPad will look really beautiful. Bhansali's movies and settings are so far off from reality for me!

As far as Dpad is concerned, this movie might just add to her fame and acting ability. Don't think it will do much damage to her standing cos I don't think anyone expects Bhansali movies to work in BO. 😆

Ranveer is one of the good actors of future so don't think BO result would affect him too. Audience, these days are forgiving towards BO results but aren't forgiving towards bad acting.

who said it's ONLY the numbers that matter?
I never said it's the only thing that matters..I said in Bollywood..numbers matter more than the content. You can be the best actor alive and deliver the most substantial films but if you're films aren't doing well at the BO, then you're a nobody. Likes of Salman Khan or Katrina Kaif have had their careers thrive on BO numbers, and do their films have much of content to talk about? hmm, no...otherwise, if numbers didn't matter MORE...their careers would've looked pretty different right now. I'm not saying that's how it should be and nor do I agree with it, but that's how it is in bwood. Content and numbers do not go hand in hand here.

Also, if Ram Leela fails, then it might not affect Deepika to such a great extent considering she has done well for herself this year overall..but, she also has to prove whether or not she has the star power to carry a film like Ram Leela without a superstar male actor by her side. Of course, the film will affect Ranveer more because he's not in the same position as Deepika and it with Lootera not doing well commercially..he needs this to do better, regardless. Once again, it goes back to what I was saying..numbers do matter more here..otherwise I don't see why Ranveer would have to worry so much after a praiseworthy performance post Lootera.

Ram Leela IMO will be appreciated but it won't be a big hit. People don't really like time period movies, most of them are flops.

As for Deepika, I'm pretty sure they will give her the best actress award for YJHD, so the rest of her movies shouldn't even matter.

yeah it was appreciated.. I liked HR-Ash together..they were great in it.. but movie was boring like sawariya..
as someone said SLB has lost his touch.. he used to make such amazing movies like HDDCS..
so I have low expectation from Ramleela storywise
