@starstruckk Nobody is denying that numbers are important. I never said they weren't. I just said that some people on this forum are too obsessed with them.
My main point here is, you cannot throw out movies like Black or Lootera just because they weren't commercially successful.
Rani was hailed as the Queen when Black came out even though the movie flopped. Also, Bollywood awards always worship the box office. But Rani still swept all the awards that year, she went against Preity Zinta who had the very successful Veer Zara on her side.
My main point here is that at the end of the day CONTENT does matter and does play a role. Its not "only" about numbers.
If Deepika gives a strong performance in Ram Leela, I doubt the failure or success of the movie will affect her.
who said it's ONLY the numbers that matter?
I never said it's the only thing that matters..I said in Bollywood..numbers matter more than the content. You can be the best actor alive and deliver the most substantial films but if you're films aren't doing well at the BO, then you're a nobody. Likes of Salman Khan or Katrina Kaif have had their careers thrive on BO numbers, and do their films have much of content to talk about? hmm, no...otherwise, if numbers didn't matter MORE...their careers would've looked pretty different right now. I'm not saying that's how it should be and nor do I agree with it, but that's how it is in bwood. Content and numbers do not go hand in hand here.
Also, if Ram Leela fails, then it might not affect Deepika to such a great extent considering she has done well for herself this year overall..but, she also has to prove whether or not she has the star power to carry a film like Ram Leela without a superstar male actor by her side. Of course, the film will affect Ranveer more because he's not in the same position as Deepika and it with Lootera not doing well commercially..he needs this to do better, regardless. Once again, it goes back to what I was saying..numbers do matter more here..otherwise I don't see why Ranveer would have to worry so much after a praiseworthy performance post Lootera.
