Vidya could carry a' Kahaani' on her shoulders and made it a superhit.Sujoy was then known as a flop director

Where as Ghanchakkar with Emraan and the hit director of NOKJL was a dismal flop and didn't open well either.

BMB did 100 crore..but no one believes that Farhan is a superstar.

BBB was a hit for Ranveer with the then flop star Anushka..Lootera a flop with 100 crore herone Sonakshi.

Actors can only rely on their talent and hard work for a lasting career..

I think it has to be a combination of the actors talent and the script as well - which is evident in today's film world if you look at movies like Kahani, BMB, KPC, BBB etc - the actors may not have been complete bankable stars but the scripts made their movies worth it.

At the end of the day it should be the content that should matter rather than who the actor is and how much box office appeal they have and it's nice to see bollywood somewhat take that aspect of films seriously.

Scripts? None of these masala films have any script whatsoever yet are the biggest crowd pullers. Even Chennai Express is getting reviews stating that the film doesn't have much of a script.

Katrina Kaif is the biggest example of no script sense, no acting etc yet one of the most bankable actresses today and has been for a while.

Audiences have become more accepting with a lot of things when compared to before...but it's still not as fair to many films and actors because of this whole number business. At least not in my opinion.

SLB films with love story were successfull like HDDCS , Devdas. Sawariya was strange, there wasn't a love story between Ranbir and Sonam. Guzarish was different and too complicated for average audience. If RamLeela is a "normal" love story then it might be a surprise big hit like HDDCS. It definitely has that potential.

Really? Is that why we have successful films like Barfi, Kahani, Vicky Donor, English Vinglish, Bhag Mikha Bhag, and so on.

The content of these films are what made them such big hits. Not anything else.

Barfi - big hit because of the content...if it had anything to do with Priyanka/Ranbir why did anjana anjani flop? Because the content SUCKED.

Kahani- vidya made it huge...why couldn't she do the same in Ghanchakkar? becasuse the content SUCKED.

Vicky Donar- huge hit...why couldn't Ayushman do the same with Nautanki Sala? Again, because the content sucked.

I understand that at certain times content is not required (Rowdy Rathore, ETT) and at times content might not make a movie successful (Lootera, Black) but you cant disregard it completely. There are several movies, especially in the last few years that have been huge successful films purely based on the content.

RL is important for Deepika merely to prove her starpower without any doubts. Acting wise, she has managed to impress even her harshest critics already..doesn't need RL for that.

But RL is far more important for Ranveer. He needs it to work for him.

She needs to impress all the critics in one go like Anushka did with BBB, Sonakshi with Lootera and Parineeti with Ishaqzaade. Verionica wasn't appreciated by all critics. YJHD again very limited appreciation and for CE she is getting praised for the accent which few critics found offending, She still hasn't given a pathbreaking role

Also to be called no.1, Deepika must make the movie work with her so called star power

^Critics have warmed up to Deepika with each successive film release. Most critics agree that DP is a decent actress. That's good enough for now.

Like I said, RL is more for Ranveer...because he is the one who is going to find it tough if it bombs. DP would have had 4 straight successes pre-Ram Leela...on top of which, her work has been appreciated by a decent to good majority of the critics too. The year will still have been good for her.

I hope SLB has got his brain sorted out and put some commercial element as well , otherwise he know this his last chance as a director otherwise no A list actor would want again with a director who guarantee flop movies 😆 .
