Vidya First Choice for Lootera!

John was the first choice for male lead...thank god that didn't happen! For Rockstar too 😆

Vidya would have suited the latter half of the film but she was a bad choice for the initial half. So no. The initial half requires a certain gullibility mixed with haughtiness. While Vidya would have probably excelled playing the haughty rich girl, she wouldn't have brought the same charm and vulnerability to Pakhi's character that Sonakshi invariably ended up bringing. As for the box office status, Vidya's presence or absence makes no difference to this film. This film is being appreciated for its entire package not for its actors, alone. Lootera is obviously not for everyone. So I'm pretty sure the response would have been the same with or without Vidya. Since when does Vidya's inclusion mean guaranteed commercial success anyway? Kahani worked because it was a good film, TDP worked because of the blatant sexual aspect, in my opinion. Ghanchakkar failed to work because it was a bad film.

^^^ Well true but she still is considered as Female Khan for no reason! Getting a female oriented film near 100 crore mark is no joke and prescience of Vidya would have attracted more audience I feel!

Yeah when this film was going to be made years ago. No point now.

Personally I think after Parineeta, Pakhi would have been a cakewalk for Vidya.

yup why not. she would have done justice anyways. but i am happy for sonakshi. atleast noone can call her untalented now.

who cares abt the 1st choice ?? salman was the 1st choice for CDI and aamir was the 1st choice for darr but i think nobody can imagine them as kabir khan or rahul .In the same way i cant imagine som1 else as paakhi

I honestly do not think Vidya has mass appeal. She's an actress not a star. If that weren't the case, all her films would do well at the BO just like Salman/Aamir/SRK's majority do. Vidya chooses good films and she is a decent actress so her films do well. Now this is not in regards to Lootera since I think it's a good fim. But generally speaking, for a bad film to do well at the BO, you have to be a star, being an actor/actress isn't enough.
