I'd like to see Bollywood actually make a Byomkesh Bakshi movie. And Feluda too - yes I know, Shashi Kapoor played him on tv way back in the 80s directed by Sandip Ray, but I want to see an actual Bollywood take on him on the big screen.

Who would play them? Hmmm.

Thankfully they always release when I am in india and I get to see it with my dad.😆
The stories are written ina way that adult content, emotion etc do not find much place there, filial relationships, friendship etc are give more importance.

Ohh okay. Thanks Tani :) So basically Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda are both characters of different detective stories, like Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Nancy Drew..

Next time, I'm in India, I'll pick up some of these novels. Love detective stories! They have TV versions of these too? On YT, with English subtitles?

yes, they are detectives. Boymkesh is the married one, feluda is the bachelor, something between 26-30.

Byomkesh was made into Hindi soap before, as people are mentioning here, rajit kapoor played him.
Feluda movies and tv movies/soaps should be on youtube. Try this movie Bombaier Bombete first. It was made in 2003 I think, totally action movie style. Awesome.

I have grown up watching sabya as Feluda. his Hindi is also good, he has been in movies like dil se,so he would have been ideal. but now he is too old.I can totally see kunal kapoor as feluda. or the guy who played dev patels elder brother in SDM.

let's hope whoever makes the movie has enough sense and doesn't pick those khan kapoor star paribar brigade but rather someone deserving, much like rajit kapoor.

I've wanted someone to make a full on detective film series a la Sherlock Holmes in Bollywood for quite some time. A version on Byomkesh Bakshi, Feluda would be really cool! Maybe Sujoy Ghosh, Basu, or Shoojit Sarkar would be best to direct since they probably grew up on those series..

I always wanted to see SRK as detective like Holmes. 😳 Baadshah was pathetic, but a better made one would be cool. Though really, I can see many many actors in BW doing justice to such a role I suppose. I'm not sure what the age group required for Bakshi and Feluda are though.

^Bombaiyer Bombete was not the first. That would be Baksho Rahashya, the first Sandip Ray Feluda movie on the big screen. Before BR, he'd made a tele-series on the shorter stories of Feluda which, as Tani said, would be available on YT.

All right, during my spring break I will start watching those. 😆 Thanks :) As it is, who knows when Sherlock will be back. I need something good to watch 😃

Bombaiyer bomebete is on youtube I know for sure. atleast it was till a few months back. That movie catapulted feluda movies to mainstream movie. before that it wasmainly tv soaps and made for tv movies which got screened in Nandan.
thats why I mentioned it. for someone like Himani, it would be a good starting point to build up interest.

himani, please no. no srk for those two.
Byomkesh was in his late 20s when the movie started, got married at 29 and can be potrayed as someone in mid 30s. feluda iy younger, should be someone in mid 20s. he is a lot more hip, does kung fu etc.😆

Would it be too blasphemous if someone makes original stories starring Byomkesh or Feluda? God knows how many Sherlock pastiches and reimaginations exist. James Bond is more known for his film series than his books and his books themselves were continued after Fleming. New Byomkesh/Feluda stories might be interesting if done right.

Just don't let anyone make a daily soap out of them. 😆

@Tanni and Kal El: I'd really want a full-fledged BB series in Bollywood. Not too sure about Feluda though; the USP of the series is its pun-tastic and alliteristic humour which I'm afraid would get lost in translation.
