Yup byomkesh rocks, a little more adult than feluda and helluva intelligent than the ones around when byomkesh came up. But what amazes me is how much all these stories are inspired.by madam.Christie.

Talking about Shubho Mahurat? I love that movie. Never seen Rakhee acting like the way she acted in this movie. Phew! Good I didn't read Miss Marple.

Yup. BB stories are more Poirot-ish than Sherlockian than many claim. 😆 Never liked Poirot stories much though, just couldn't find them engaging.

Actually it takes a little bit of both. byomkesh and his sidey watson are more like sherlock and watson than poirot and hastings. But the amount of human drama, phycology involved, trinagle love, sexual attraction etc involved in Byomkesh is a lot more than the rather uni dimensional characters of Sherlock Holmes.

The movie was fanatasic, I went to watch with mom, I loved it then. I still love the movie as an example of moviemaking art . But shortly after that I got in touch with agatha christie and now I love her, I know her books, novels mostly by heart and I am totally disheartened to see how rituparno totally ruined the principal characters except that of sharmila maybe.

@Tannipartner: I'd disagree on that. The dynamics that BB-AB share are more close-knit than Sherlock and Watson. The latter are more fan and celebrity adulation, while the former are more like chaddi-buddies.

To each his own. Saradindu did add his flavour but I feel the chemistry between the two is more closer to sherlock than to poirot hastings.

But whatever it might be, the best thing was making him an ordinary middle-class married man with a life outside of his profession. That was the USP of him. 😃
