Gosh. One lady is taking side of all women and opposes sexism in all the fields but here some women have problem with that too. So it's true Aurat hi Aurt ki sabse badi dusman hoti hai. (Women are biggest enemy of women) 😆

Why should we pay attention to such "petty" issues like sexism when we'd rather focus on Saif's weaknesses.

Sharmila isn't helping anything by providing stupid examples though. Govinda was condemned for his movies and songs lots of times and the thing is, he hasn't done any of that stuff in a good 15-20 years. Why is she picking on an old man who's completely irrelevant today? She took the easy way out and picked an easy target because she would be too fearful of picking someone like Salman Khan. He's the one most famous for doing rickshawala type of movies TODAY. It's his movies that refer to women as laudiyas and have songs like Munni Badman Hui with women shaking their boobs and butts at the screen. His actresses have two bit nothing roles and he has dialogues about slapping them and things like that.

Isn't she on the censor board too? Why isn't she and her board cutting out stuff if she's so offended? Her argument is that women should be allowed to be sex symbols if they want. I sort of agree with that. However, you have to be mad to think they all do this because they want to and just love to do stuff like this. That's not the case at all. It's that the industry is sexist and if they don't do item numbers and show a lot of skin, they will be easily replaced by someone else. If Kareena said no to Fevicol Se, someone else would have been ready to do it and gain from it.

Women aren't choosing to parade around half naked shaking their asses because they just love to. They do it because they're compelled to because this is what Bollywood has relegated them to. If they want to be successful, they have to do it. Everyone can't be Vidya.

Sharmila isn't helping things by talking nonsense. These arguments are much more nuanced and multifaceted than what she's claiming. Her dumb question about why Govinda wasn't condemned is as bad as it gets.

This is her main point

"I think we have to forget this 'man can do anything and women cannot' mindset. If a woman enjoys doing a certain thing on screen, it's her prerogative. You don't have to go and see her. Why be judgmental about it?

She's not uphailing item songs, but merely responding to the recent accusations that item songs are responsible for heinous crimes.

Its not that simple and Sharmila has a point that just because a woman is shown to be desirable onscreen does NOT mean she's objectified or demeaning herself.

She also cites examples by saying how MEN are objectified in the profession.

I find her argument anything but shallow. She's in fact addressing all facets of the problem without being too judgmental.

I'm a bit surprised by how people are just hung up on her one example and ignoring the entire point of the rest of her discussion

I have no idea on Govinda's vulgar dance steps but Sharmila's reasoning is pretty absurd! I am so against these nasty item numbers 🤢 Especially when A listers is doing it...they should be condemned in my opinion!

When will people realize that censorship is not the answer.

Telling women that you shouldnt do this, isnt the answer. Controlling the media, isnt the answer.

Censorship is addressing the symptoms, not the root of the problem.

Preventing women from becoming objects of desire will not curb violence against women.

Think of countries like Saudi Arabia, with one of the strictest control on media and censorship. What respect to women command there? Last I heard, women are raped and then blamed for the crime.

Education is the answer.

Teach men to respect. Dont control women.
