Firstly madhubala was known for her beauty...not for acting...she was an average actor...

Secondly...I have yet to see any woman as pretty as Madhubala...in the older lot...I would say ...Madhuri is close to MB's beauty ...in the current lot I see none..although Kat is very beautiful...perhaps the prettiest one in the current lot...

So IMHO...they should have looked for fresh faces...because when one is making a biopic...especially for known faces like Kishor Kumar and Madhubala...a current popular face doesn't do it...even though Ranbir is a great actor...but no way can I imagine him as KK...so new faces would have been good...

and NO..Karisma..BB wali not suited for the role...

...it's kinda about perception too. Vidya is thought to be "much older" than Ranbir, even though she is only a few years older. Every time Ranbir worked with an older actress, it was worked into the script. But Madhubala was much younger than Kishore Kumar.

Abby, I don't think it's a case of will Ranbir want to work with Vidya as much as will Vidya even be considered for a role opposite RK by the producers/director. Sad, I actually think they would look very good together.

Even Sonam has the looks and grace down to the T. Her only problem is acting.
