You know Anu, honest confession..out of all the male TV actors that I thought had potential in Bollywood, I had never actually pegged Sushant to be one of them. 😆 But he seems to be one of the few who has picked the right film to debut with, is smart, and seems to be here for the passion of films only. Hope he can stay this way & not get lured by fame + money like so many before him have.

I guess it isn't always about potential, Himani...cuz if I had to talk potential, Mishal Raheja is a far better actor than Sushant...but he doesn't have the savvy it seems to make it to B-town...cuz the fact remains you need more than just great acting skills...you need star power...not saying that Mishal doesn't have excellent screen presence too...but like you said one needs to be smarter about it than that.

I think what really sets Sushant apart is that along with the star quality and charm that he has, he is a very intelligent guy...that passion he has for every aspect of filmmaking...as he often mentions in his interviews...he is content enough doing theater also as long as he gets a great role...that quality sets him apart...as long as he keeps that PURE fascination and drive for doing GOOD work and putting that above the trappings of fame, I think he will do well.

Waise toh no one can tell what that indefinable something is that will connect with the masses...it doesn't always need to be looks or just pure acting skills...if the audience embraces you, they just do...that's the X-factor...and Sushant does have that.

No it's not just about potential..of course that matters, but obviously you need a mix of things like talent, charm, the "X" factor that will connect with the audience...or at least have an abundance of one thing, mostly charm, screen presence, the X factor, and above all knowing how to pick the right roles from the wrong ones, jumping on opportunities. Acting toh phir bhi can improve. I realized mostly in JDJ that Sushant has good screen presence and is charming. Manav was too boring a character for me. Preet was more interesting, but he was gone soon.

@bold Yeah that's what I'm saying too. As long as he can do that, he will be good..It's inevitable that fame will change you in some way or the other, it happens to the best of them..but through it all, I hope Sushant can keep a firm head & still care about his roles & content above everything else.

I think Sushant has shovered for the first time ever and boy oh boy! he cleaned out well.

I never followed KDM regularly but he was pretty raw as Preet back then...despite Manav being a pretty mahaan one dimensional character in many ways, Sushant did grow as an actor over the course of PR...I think he was pretty much just playing himself as Preet...Manav was more of a challenge since that is so NOT like what he is...ofcourse I'm not one to talk since I followed the show briefly mainly to watch Sushita together😆

But yes, JDJ deffo gave us a fresher perspective on Sushant and an opportunity to get a glimpse of his creative mind, charm, grace and confidence...all of which combine to give him star quality.
