They used that as a promotion strategy, they introduced katrina's trailer with the trailer and not the teaser.

And Katrina's succesful combination with kabir also played a role in ett success people wanted to see how their work in ett was after the critically acclaimed New York which also was a commercial successful movie.

Kabir also played a huge role because people wanted to see what he created after NY.

YRF also played a role in making ETT successful.

And Mashallah was one of the reasons why ETT promotions became such success. The music video of mashallah became huge thanks to katrina's killer dancing. Salman wanted to place this song in the middle of the movie because he thought ETT could have become bigger than 3 idiots if mashallah was placed earlier and not as end credits, so clearly shows even salman knew how big role that song played for the success of that movie.
