OMG was one of the best movie of 2012.paresh Rawal was fab and hilarious as well..and i didn't find it loud, preachy or illogical infact it gives a nice message to people...especially it changes our perspective as to how we view religion...kind of realistic movie it was...😊

The subject was about religion. Suing God is only a device used by filmmakers to convey their message.

Kanjibhai doesn't believe in God, but he got irked by this Act of God thing and hence went ahead to file a case against God. The religious priests etc. were likened to agents/representatives of God in it. It's all far fetched but not as outlandish in fictional context. The trial served purpose of discovering whether there's a God or not, and how concept of God has become a business. It's illogical only if you skim the surface. It makes sense when viewed in right context within the film.

Then they should've used a believable premise to set it up. And what did it solve and how? That atheists are wrong and there IS a God after all? 🤣 And Kanji bhai being divinified? Seriously? Why didn't it leave it to the viewers to decide whether there's a God? And must I say for the ZILLIONTH time that I've NO problem with the message, just the PRESENTATION, or lack of it?
And pardon, but the monologues about Godmen and shopkeepers of religion was no way related to the main theme. He was trying to prove there IS a God or ISN'T? That itself was confusing. His dialogues about the non-existance of God become irrelevant in that light. And the corrupt practises of Godmen were brought in purely for the HECK of it; it was nowhere related to the court case he'd filed. End result: A Preachy Tuition for 13 year olds. 😆

I think it is a step in the right way. India is a place where people just do what is told without thinking about it. And religion is a weakspot. A lot of people there just accept anything if it's the will of god -though it actually isn't- So this concept was very risky and bold. It was an eyeopener, I don't think it was supposed to be all glamourous and perfect, just trying to prove their point and make it reach people, since Indians love the cinema, this was a great way to spread the word. So, I will have to go with no, I don't think it is overrated. It has been brought very well, I do think Akshay ruined it a bit... he wasn't needed in the film. But overall very well done.

I was/am not talking about Glamour fyi. Just subtlety and a stronger premise. And the movie wasn't as bold as people are making it out to be; it did not attack any integral religious practises, just the pseudo-babas. Let somebody make a movie criticising Hinduism/Islam/Christianity's Holy Book Doctrines, then we'll say bold.

Actually, there have been real lawsuits filed against God. Also think of things like the Flying Spaghetti Monster. It was an outrageous, but apt and true response to the Kansas Board of Education decision. This was in similar vein.

From the way I perceived the movie, it was an introspection on faith and beliefs. It asked questions on the absurdity of blind faith and the flaws of organized religion. I didn't see it as a pro-God or anti-God stance, but more of an exploration into how God has been reduced to an excuse these days.

I found that the movie left the conclusion open. People of faith can believe that God exists and played a role. Atheists can just rest on the fact that it is fiction or view Krishna as a manifestation rather than reality.

But just like how sermons appear to be bullshit to many people, I'm sure the premise of suing God is bullshit to others.

The issue wasnt about whether, there is or isnt a GOD, imo. The issue was based on the very premise that there was a God, and how people on the name of God take hard earned money and abuse the institution.

It was made to call on the hypocrisy of so called ardent believers of religion and staunch idolists- who, when convenient rob the man of his insurance money by saying Act of God and reject him. In due course of the film, it also calls out many practices in the name of religion and worship, that ultimately do more harm for the masses than good. << That is subjective, but thats fiction for you and the point of the movie.

To me, the movie brought out many facts, a normal person tends to ignore or overlook. The double standards, the white lies to make money... those are the focal points of the movie.

I think, you have simply skimmed the issue at hand, and are hung up one moot point.

I loved the movie..def. better than the rest of the Akshay films..but this film belongs to Paresh Rawal, he is the main protagonist!
I did not find it preachy..yes many scenes were OTT, but hey I prefer this movie any day to ETT, Ready, Housefull, son of sardar etc. it had a very good message and a different story!! I love court scenes in films and for me these scenes were entertaining..the dialogues were fab! what else do you need? I feel the movie is not over rated rather under rated!!

It was an act done in rage!! His logic was when god men and priests can act as agents of God to fill their own coffers, they should be equally responsible for any liability arising from His action!!

@bold: seems like ppl didnt even watched the movie😆
