Innocent people who were at the Golden Temple that day were open fired on by the Indian Army. They weren't aiding "anyone", they were HOSTAGES!

Indira Gandhi was responsible for this and she deserved every bullet she got in that head of hers. Her and Bhindrawala weren't very different. Both shed a lot of innocent blood.

That's your opinion and we can agree to disagree. Calling me names is not going to make me change my opinion.

To each their own; I stand by what I said. Peace!

I think Indira Gandhi's move was wrong. She shouldn't have done that. Innocent people wouldn't have died. She would have survived. There would have been no Sikh riots.

I think she was one of the best Prime Minister's of our country. We would have progressed a lot more under her leadership.

It was a grave mistake and cost her dearly. Bindrawala barely had any support in Punjab but he was a thorn in her side. She's responsible for not only creating the monster, but making a terrorist a martyr in the eyes of many.
There were other ways of getting him out of the Golden Temple. Open firing on a bunch of innocent people was not one of them. She's responsible for two of the most shameful acts in the history of Indian democracy. Operation Blue Star and The Emergency.
The woman was a power hungry savage.

She indeed was one of the best prime minister coz she had the guts to take decisions. When she took over the reigns it wasnt the best time of India. India faced wars and she did not succumb to any of amriki or british political pressures. She even carried out the first nuclear test in India and as well as provided lot of subsidies for industrial development in India. We were no longer a british colony then.

The Operation blue star was definitely a blot on her regime and it would have been the toughest decision she took. But surprisingly even after Operation Blue Star she had sikh bodyguards to protect her, which proves that she wasnt a sikh enemy.
And people shouldnt forget that it wasnt Indira Gandhi who selected Golden Temple for attack, it was the so called religious Bhindranwala who made the temple into warplace.

So you are of the view that if militants hide in a holy place they shouldnt be attacked? What if the army would have sat their waiting for millitants to give up and they(militants) either escape or send a wrong message to public that army is here to attack the temple? That would have been a bigger chaos than it actually was.
Mistakes were done on both sides..How could Golden temple allow hundreds of bhindranwala create bunkers and bring weapons inside the temple?

Its not about militants from the temple attacking the army, its about the bhindranwala supporters outside the temple attacking the army. That could have lead to a bigger n more brutual tragedy.
