It wasn't a riot. It was a GENOCIDE.

Sikhs were only being killed. Not Hindus, which defines a RIOT.

Secondly, normal Hindus weren't involved. They were busy saving their neighbours. It was hired goons from UP and Bihar who were running loose while the Police stood and watched on the government's orders, while the army wasn't allowed to enter Delhi.

Bindharawala was a monster, created by Indira Gandhi, who turned rogue similar to Osama who was created by the US.

Indira Gandhi's assassination was just WRONG; what she did at the Golden Temple to combat Khalistani terrorism, was not wrong. Not sure why most Punjabi's paint it in a bad light. 🥱 The terrorist Bhindrawaala asked for it.

I partially Agree. But Amitabh bachan was absoultey wrong to pass that statement. And he should bear brunt of it too . Yes People Should act with their own frame of mind AND that includes So called Superstar role model Amitabh too.
And I will not say that Indira Gandhi's assassination was right or wrong. But She definetly was wrong. She was the one who made Bhindrawala and when her purpose was served , she went after him. She is no saint.In her last days, she got an idea that her end was near Bz she knew she messed with wrong people.

Well when the Quebecers wanted to sepperate, they were given a referendum by the government. A choice to decide their own future. And it is the Quebecers who made the choice to stay with Canada. And as for Punjab, the people weren't given the choice to decide their own future. Furthermore, people don't even know Khalistan was not Bhindrawale's first demand. he basically demanded Sikhs be given what they were promised at the time of independence. He wanted Sikhs to be recognized as a separate religion which didn't happen. Sikhs were considered "Hindus" under the Indian constitution. They did not have religious identity of their own. And I think they still were up until recently although I'm not too sure. And as far as the killings of Hindus in Punjab are concerned, most of them were done by the Punjab government at the behest of Indian government. Punjab government also killed thousands of innocent Sikh men in the villages. Many whose bodies were never even recovered. Why do you think Beant Singh was assassinated? He failed the people of Punjab when he was sworn to protect them. The government became the enemy of all. And this is how their propaganda started against Bhindrawale. If people actually read his speeches or listen to them, they will realize he never called for the death of an innocent that too a Hindu. His movement was NEVER anti-Hindu not even slightly. He was merely pro-Sikh and wanted Sikhs to enjoy the same rights as Hindus while the gov't accepted their seperate Sikh identity.

Anyway I don't think this should be discussed here. It's too sensitive of an issue. Most of the people who have an opinion on it don't even know the story from both sides. They only champion their own cause.

That was a terrible time for everyone specially the people of Delhi.everyday we heard Sikhs being killed on the streets.tyres used to be put around their necks and they were burnt.none of us were allowed to step out of the house.lot of Sikhs got their hair cut short just to be safe.

Innocent people who were at the Golden Temple that day were open fired on by the Indian Army. They weren't aiding "anyone", they were HOSTAGES!

Indira Gandhi was responsible for this and she deserved every bullet she got in that head of hers. Her and Bhindrawala weren't very different. Both shed a lot of innocent blood.
