The way I see it, all three parties involved paid with their life. People should leave this behind them. We use to go to the Gurdwara a lot before, after the Kirtan, all they spoke about was how great Bhindrawaala was; people still using the Gurdwara as a median to propagate Khalistani terrorism, and imbed hatred in the minds of the lil ones. it's SAD.

I only blame the dog British rulers for it (pardon my language). They'd sown seeds ot division along communal and linguistic lines in such a way that it continues to plague India till date! Their dirty politics wreaked havoc in this region.

Yeah cracks are there.

Bhindranwale's name gets mixed response. Some support him and find him a hero. Others despise him for doing what he did and for using Golden Temple as a hideout.

During the Khalistan movement, Hindus were killed fairly regularly. Mostly in incidents like you described. Earlier on Hindu Punjabis and Sikhs would celebrate festivals together. Sikhs would visit temples for Janamasthami etc and Hindu Punjabis would freely visit Gurudwara every Sunday or on Gurpurab etc. This stopped after 1984. It took a LOT of time to get back to normal. And it is normal now.
I guess it tough for people to let it go when their near and dear ones were killed because of the apathy of the Govt. So they demand justice. And ppl responsible for maintaining calm were the perpetrators. So they should be punished. And yeah...I've seen some shows on Canadian telivision...aired on Sundays where they sit and openly talk abt carving out Khalistan from India. If such separatist shows were allowed against Canada in India, they'd have a cow and more.

@Mithibani...yup Khalistan was a bad idea...people who started it were terrorists and this is coming from a punjabi

Khalistan was funded by NRI's mostly from North America...but as I heard majority of punjabis didnt want Khalistan..and were against it...some bad people are in all communities

Those riots were a terrible time for Sikh families...my grandma cut my uncle's hair to save him from these riots...especially since they lived in Delhi

entering and bombing up a religious shrine of the Sikhs like that? I
don't think you would have been saying this if it was a Shiva temple.
He
is considered a terrorist in your and Indira's eyes, but not everyone
considered him one. By dealing the way she did.. he died as a shaheed in
the eyes of Sikhs and not a terrorist. And how can you even compare the
few Hindu's who died with the thousands of Sikhs who were brutally killed? Maybe you should have though once before posting a post like this Meena!

i agreee it was a genocide of sikhs. Thousands if sikhs got killed in those riots.
Im not a ssikh but as someone who is in love with a sikh man i am deeply offended

Yes, indeed it was a terrible idea. Besides some NRIs there were other vested interests supplying weapons and what not. I know of many Sikhs who cut their hair to avoid being killed. And believe you me, it makes me so sad. I've heard of so many horror stories of that time. Ouch

I Think the same.

Indira Gandhi's assassination was just WRONG; what she did at the Golden Temple to combat Khalistani terrorism, was not wrong. Not sure why most Punjabi's paint it in a bad light. 🥱 The terrorist Bhindrawaala asked for it.

If a terrorist ever enters your house, it would be completely fair for the authorities to blow up your house with you and your family inside. Because that is fair and RIGHT.
