True.😆...Rahul was so filmy and bouncey. But the moment it hit him that he had fallen in love with Pooja, his heart refused to let go of her. I love Pooja's open confession speech to Rahul in the end. Pure love of a woman. 😳

Yet when he first hears the word 'Anjali' he remembers Anjali Sharma and not his daughter. Its not that he doesnt miss Anjali but he buries her memories as he is not able to find his best friend.
IMo thats the major problem with KJo's films. The gloss overpowers emotions.
I noticed these little bits over the years watching the movie N times on TV.

I agree on that but then my mind is divided - because here he is holding a candle to his wife's memory and giving speeches on how much he loves her , and then, Anjali happens. I mean, why doesn't the screenplay explain Rahul's emotions properly? I may agree with you now but when i see KKHH again, i will have the same questions again. Uff , ye KJO!

Many people are saying that JTHJ lacks logic but then Yash Chopra's movies were not known for logic but for love and you can feel the love between Samar and Meera in the whole movie.
Meera grew up without a mother and even when she was small she used to do crazy deals with GOD and along with her total faith in God she also feared him. So when she decides to leave Samar for his life its not her faith but her fear in God and she wants to be the reason Samar is alive and not dead. Instead of being with Samar and being afraid every moment that whether he wont be taken away from her, she decides to give him up.
Samar knew that no one can shake Meera from her belief in God and hence did not try. He knew that one day Meera will realise that their Love is more powerful than any God and she will come to him.
Her giving up Samar does not mean that she does not Love him but shows that she is strong enough to give him up for his own good. And after their separation Samar leads a life where he is not afraid to die only to show himself that he can die even after being separated from Meera.
The ending was really powerful as Meera finally understood that Love cannot be defeated by anyone not even God and the separation though long really made their Love more strong.
This is the kind of Love stories Yash ji has always been known for. And I loved this movie only for Meera and Samar's love.

Veer Zaara and JTHJ were centered around the man because they were written by Aditya Chopra. Like SRK explained recently, the biggest difference between Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra is that Yash Chopra is a woman's director where everything is all about the women and the men are secondary, Aditya Chopra is all about the man..his love, his passion, his decisions..everything is more about him...and I think this reflects in Yash Chopra's last films because Adi is behind them. Even in DDLJ, it's mostly about Raj's actions...and what he does for Simran. That's not to say Simran didn't have anything to do of course.

Darr is not a usual Yash Chopra romance so I won't count it but its most definitely ALL about Rahul Mehra. DTPH might be the only thing Adi has written that is mostly about the women.

PS. I also ADORE Lamhe to bits and pieces. It's a very beautiful, poignant, complex film handled with tremendous love, care, and most importantly the maturity the subject needed..it's not a film you can watch when you're young and appreciate..b/c mostly you'll just be saying "eww" (like I did) 😆 But when you're old enough, that is one movie that helps you realize that Yash Chopra was nothing short of a genius. Its always so easy to see why Yashji's favorite was this one too..his love for the film showed in every frame..

Another Yash Chopra romance that I loved was Kabhi Kabhi...I don't know what it is about that film, but it's the older YC film that I keep going back to.

I love Yash Chopra films and I love SRK, but I don't really think they did their bestest works with each other...I won't say SRK ever acted terribly in YC films but his best works for me will always be KHKN, Swades, CDI...not Yash Chopra directorials..that being said, I do think SRK owes quite a large part of his career to Yash Chopra.

You are right...the screenplay doesnt explain Rahul's emotions. I think the movie is more about Anjali's emotions.

Im LOVING the Lamhe discussion here!!!'

its one of my all time fav romantic movies...more so because it didnt try too hard to be romantic...it dosent have cliched love scenes, it dosent have hero n heroine sharing smoulder stares in the name of love...it dosent have a lot of the usual things ppl find romantic but it was such a romantic film nevertheless...the film was so bold and ahead of its times...oh and the super fun medley was awsome!!!!

and what performances...sridevi at the pinnacle of her career playing two women who are inverses of each other...anil kapoor bringing such a silent dignity to his performance...Waheeda rahman being as graceful and beautiful as she always is...Anupama kher being the inner voice of Viren and a friend who has everyones best interests at heart...

it was an epic love story by all means...

listening to Kabhie main kahoon never fails to give me goosebumps...

such a gorgeous movie...
