Btw, did anyone notice that all of Yash Chopra's men are so dreamy and so wonderful, that they are just too good to be true?😆
I really like the fact that he always presents his men as being not just dashing and charming, but also imbibed with long-forgotten and less appreciated qualities such as patience, fortitude, loyalty and most important quiet devotion!
YC never fear the fact that his leading men might appear wimpy in comparison to the men from other films...he always made them so, wholesome...the type you would happily and hastily take home for your parents to see and approve!😆
Be it the soulful poet Amit from Kabhi Kabhi who gallantly lets his lady love ditch him and go to marry someone else (without any valid explanation even) or the dogedly loyal Squandron Leader Veer Pratap Singh, who prefers to rot in a prison rather than defame the woman he loves. Or be it the introverted Kunwarsa who cannot stop loving the woman who is long dead. Even action films like Deewar and family drama like Trishul had male leads who were sensitive, loving and full of emotions which one normally doesn't associate with Alpha-males!
In that sense, the late Yash Chopra was truly progressive!

SPOILERS

Many people are saying that JTHJ lacks logic but then Yash Chopra's movies were not known for logic but for love and you can feel the love between Samar and Meera in the whole movie.
Meera grew up without a mother and even when she was small she used to do crazy deals with GOD and along with her total faith in God she also feared him. So when she decides to leave Samar for his life its not her faith but her fear in God and she wants to be the reason Samar is alive and not dead. Instead of being with Samar and being afraid every moment that whether he wont be taken away from her, she decides to give him up.
Samar knew that no one can shake Meera from her belief in God and hence did not try. He knew that one day Meera will realise that their Love is more powerful than any God and she will come to him.
Her giving up Samar does not mean that she does not Love him but shows that she is strong enough to give him up for his own good. And after their separation Samar leads a life where he is not afraid to die only to show himself that he can die even after being separated from Meera.
The ending was really powerful as Meera finally understood that Love cannot be defeated by anyone not even God and the separation though long really made their Love more strong.
This is the kind of Love stories Yash ji has always been known for. And I loved this movie only for Meera and Samar's love.

Yash chopra's earlier works were kickass...i mean, he made waqt in 1965...such a progressive movie for its times...

and kabhie kabhie was pretty epic considering the star cast he managed to acquire for tht movie while giving everyone enough material with their characters and not sidelining anyone...

but he dosent just make love stories...look at deewar, kaala patthar, trishul, mashaal...those were gr8 films despite not being the usual "yash chopra romantic" stuff...point is, hes much more than a fluff king...he deserves way more credit than that...

aditya chopra is the overrated one...yash chopra is gold...

All this Lamhe talk makes me want to watch the movie again...I suddenly miss Yash ji as I currently watch the song medley from Lamhe (by the way, its the best song medley in a hindi movie).

All of Yash ji's movies (including JTHJ) has repeat quality. I know that I'd not mind replaying JTHJ again. 😳

Aaah Rahul! ❤️
Sorry for the multiple quotes but RAHUL of DTPH
Don't know abt you guys but DTPH for me is flawlessly simplest & best love story & I absolutely adored the love triangle. SRK was passionate as its best in the movie & I loved SRK-Madhuri's jodi. I find SRKajol craze bit over the top , for me its SRK- Madhuri all the way.
Other thing I liked abt the movie was , except Madhuri , none had a family background yet it didn't irk 😆 It was just abtthe theatre group. A very very simple & straight movie. I loved Madhri's look & Dholna like anything

And lamhe was being discussed right , just had a glance over few pages. I remember watching Lamhe many many years ago , it was coming in English on Sony one Sunday's morning. Many Many years back & English isn't my mother tongue so didn't understand much though my aunt was helping me. I just kept grasping the exquisite beauty , the incredible Rajasthan , haveli , drop dead gorgeous Pallo , the music , the sadness , romance & i begged for a DVD in Hindi. It was a scientific gibber but an absolute heart felt master piece

Just watched the movie.
Will edit with my two cents 😃

~EDITED~

First things first. I didn't even realize when 3 hours were up 😆 And this comes from one on the most restless people on the planet.
If you've read Nahta's review then u pretty much know the story. 😡 And somehow he made it sound sooo stupid so I was a bit apprehensive when I went to watch it. But everything was forgotten within moments of the movie beginning. The insipid storyline makes much more sense when you watch SRK, Ansuhka and Kat (Grudgingly, but yes! She does contribute) breathe life innit.

Katrina's portrayal as Meera, a girl who believes in forgoing something for every wish she makes to God is believable. While I can't say that she'll earn awards for it...I have to give it to her that it's MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. You can see expressions flitting through her face every now and then. And guys will find it easy enough not to concentrate on her face 😆
The Ishq Shava bit was explosive on the screens. Great tempo, confident moves and almost bang on attitude.
Another scene that majorly hit me was during the climax when she makes that frantic deal with God to save his life. Well executed. The determination in her eyes when she stood up and turned her back was WHOA!

Akira played by Anushka is infectious. She chases her dreams, believes in poking her nose into others diaries and life, wants to have sex with men having different accents 😆
She is an amalgam of Geet from JWM and Veronica from Cocktail tamed into a more bindaas, confident and practical version.
And she is totally relatable.
How many times has it happened that you read books and fall in love with the male protagonist? For me, INNUMERABLE. Lucky her! She got to meet the protagonist in reality, to flirt with him unabashedly, fall in love with him.
And somehow a hollowness can be felt inside your heart when you realize that you've fallen hopelessly in love with someone who can't reciprocate. Sucks! Big Time.
Anushka makes you feel it.

And what can I say about SRK that hasn't already been said?
He is perfect. I prefer the bitter, stubble-d, uniformed man to the carefree, multiple job holder, english-vinglish spoof 😆
His anger, his hurt, his love, his intensity, his longing...
It's all palpable.
No flakes of the OSO and Ra.One OTTness. He is there, owning the movie and making it something else.

Yash Ji's last is magic in entirety. The plot of the movie may not be all that path breaking...but the SOUL of the movie is.

Totally recommend it to Romance-o-holics.

PS - At moments I just imagined Madhuri Dixit in stead of Kat. It HELPED. A L-O-T! 😆
