They're not even trying to hide how blatantly they've ripped things off from TDP--from dialogues to mannerisms. 😆

NOTHING exciting has been offered from ANY promo. I can only imagine Kareena fans running to the theatre to watch this. Unless ofcourse something more exciting is released/revealed.

Every actress in Bollywood should be PRAYING for this movie to do well. Even her rivals Priyanka, Vidya, Katrina etc...

The reason is that this is arguably the biggest "Heroine-oriented" (pun intended) movie of all-time. The $$$'s riding on it are huge. Kareena is the biggest superstar of the last decade and the director has some credibility behind him, as well as the production house. The movie needs to do well, because if if flops, will big producers like UTV ever back a project of this kind. How many directors will accept scripts which are centred around a female, on a canvas as huge as this project?

On the flipside, if the movie does well, there are benefits for all - even those not connected to the movie.

Not only will the producers make huge profits, but Kareena's pay packet will increase by a large percentage. More female-oriented projects will be made on a larger scale. It will give confidence to the financers. And therefore in the future the Kangna's, Deepika's and Sonakshi's can demand more money, because they will be more than just eye-candy. They will bring people to the theatres to watch THEIR performances in huge numbers. These heroines will become heroes and make enough moollah for to do more than feed the hungry producers and their families, but their personal remunerations will increase - it might not match their male co-stars yet, but it would be a step in the right direction.

I remember once Akshay Kumar said something similar to this in an interview a few years ago. Probably around the time of Ghajini's success. He said that he is very happy when other actors' films do really well, because it's good for the industry. Their pay will increase, and so will his, because more money will be invested in films.

*fingers crossed* for decent business and a good movie!

^ I agree this needs to do well so directors can make more heroine oriented movies. But one thing I disagree with you about is the part about heroine being the biggest heroine oriented role. I think TDP... Vidya also had a big role. And she already made directors take notice that actresses can be heroes too. Kareena just has to add to the value. If two heroine oriented roles become a hit.. that would be amazing.

Guess who, I'm pretty sure that by the time TDP released, Heroine's script had LONG been finished (remember it was supposed to take off with Aish months before). Not just that, but Kareena was alreayd on board and she had started shoot.
Infact, she went out to specifically catch TDP with Johar because she was
And if indeed the altered the script during the making to make it like TDP, that's just STUPID, coz why would you WANT to copy and give your film the same vibe as a film that JUST released a few months ago?

The Dirty Picture didn't have this much hype or money invested in it. It was big but not enormous. Kareena is a far bigger superstar now than Vidya pre-TDP. Vidya became a super-diva only after TDP had already released. My comment is based on the pre-release hype: in which this project is far beyond anything in history in terms of a high-profile high-budget full-on glamour-meets-reality kind of film centred on the biggest female star of the last decade.

It doesn't matter which film was written first. At the end of the day, TDP released first--a good 10 months first actually, practically a year. That is all people remember or even care about really.
The similarities to TDP have been in-your-face-obvious in every promo so far. If the Heroine truly is different, then Madhur has done an extremely shitty job of showing that. Guess who and SB have already summarized the similarities shown by now.. Heroine just seems like a more glamourized and contemporary version of TDP, mixed with Fashion. End result so far--- too been there done that.
