^ This crore business is audience-born.

Though I hate his liver, Salman explained the 100 crore thing perfectly, what with how inflation and the general amount of people who go out to watch movies has increased have caused movies to be able to technically earn 100 crores

I wish time went back to when the success of movies used to be measured in the amount of days it remained in theaters.
That seemed like a more genuine way of measuring success

And yes of course JWM wasn't a hit because of bebo. If I Remeber correctly film started off average opening and with good word of mouth about the film and great perf by bebo and shahid...that's what helped JWM to become a hit.

In terms of heroine...just look at this forums poll..."which film are you dying to watch"...last time I checked heroine was leading. Even after comparisons with TDP and fashion people still wanna see it. heroine is creating the same buzz that Vidya's TDP created. I don't think Kareena has a strong boxoffice pull because she doesn't have script sense of Vidya. If heroine is a good film and gets strong word of mouth...I don't see why it should flop. I don't think Kareena is less popular than Vidya. Vidya is more better at picking better films and that's what helps her boxoffice wise.

lensa do not pay too much attention to hits on youtube, and thses polls I mean i can sit there whole day and just HIT IT)...end of the day we want to see a well made -hard hitting movie from madhur and a bravo performance from bebo. honestly , barring the last scene, the trailer didn't excite me a bit, it screams tdp and fashion.

I agree with you. Those days, success was measured in terms of silver jubilee, golden Jubillee. These days it does not matter how many days or weeks movie remains to stay in the theater. One week and 100 crores, movie is a blockbuster.

^ teh thing is, I won't deny that crores hold credibility lol, of course they do.

But the jubilee system was more fair --> in that time, there were no such things as sleeper hits.

IMO, a movie that does well just because of awesome first day collections, but lame collections 2 weeks after release, versus a movie that doesn't pick up much in the beginning, but end up doing solid business for a longer period of time.. aren't the same.

I guess I might be saying this because most of the movies I've hated have had the first type of success 😆, but still, the way people still want to watch movies weeks after release... it deserves more credibility than it gets.

In that case Vidya wins hands down. I think both TDP and Kahaani have lasted 100 days in theaters.

I know shane that's why I said the only thing that can save Herone is good word of mouth in terms of perf and well made film.

While Vidya I don't think she can give a hit with a weak script... both Kahani and TDP had great reviews in terms of perf and script and also great word of mouth. She just doesn't have the fan following that the khans have.

Am all for Vidya and proving heroine films can do well... but let's not be delusional about it (ref to vidya here)She's no khan.

She was kidding about the Khan/Balan comment.

yeah😊

but aaah it's all changed now. I'm sure the movies that have already made 100 crores have also lasted a long time in cinemas, because multiplexes wanna keep them in to milk whatever else is left to milk from them.

The whole system's changed...

Nope...if any of them lasted for a 100 days I am sure we would have seen lots of media attention. These days a movie lasts as long as a similar one isnt released in theatres. Like Rowdy Rathore lasted till Bol Bachchan, Bol Bachchan lasted till KSKHH, KSKHH will last till ETT, ETT will last till Joker etc etc.
