Rowdy Rathore, the solo release this week, took a mega-opening and, as anticipated, earned Rs 15 crore NBOC across India on its first day. A full-on entertainer and typical Bollywood masala film, it is expected to meet an excellent fate at the box office.

Reports in Mumbai were extraordinary. Hemant Shah of Tilak Enterprise says, "Rowdy Rathore garnered Rs 6 crore in the Mumbai circuit while the pan-India collection is Rs 16-17 crore. The film has been doing especially well in single-screens and has generated good numbers in interior regions in our circuit."

The old-style action in the film has appealed the Delhi audience too. G D Mehta of Bobby Arts International comments, "The film has earned Rs 4-4.25 crore on day one while the pan-India collections are around Rs 15 crore. Multiplexes have done average business, whereas the performance in single-screens has been amazing. The second day opening has been impressive as well."

Mehta says the 1980s' feel to the film has appealed to the masses and the weekend is expected to bring in Rs 45-50 crore, all-India. Within the Delhi-UP region, the film may earn around Rs 15 crore. "The audience was eagerly waiting for a typical masala film, and this one is delivering it," Mehta says.

Jaspal Dhingra of Nanaksar Enterprises in East Punjab remarks, "Rowdy Rathore has earned Rs 97 lakh on its opening. Single-screens have done better business compared to multiplexes. The audience in Haryana is all praise for the film."

An entertaining, masala film after the IPL matches was the best thing for the West Bengal audience, and Debashish Dey of Aum Moviez says, "Rowdy Rathore took an exceptional opening yesterday. In West Bengal, the film earned Rs 48 lakh on its first day and the weekend will have a very good numbers. "

He adds, "In a way, this year has been a comeback year for Akshay Kumar. With his earlier release this year, Housefull 2, and now Rowdy Rathore, he has returned to his action avatar with a bang."

In CP, Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films concludes, "Rowdy Rathore earned Rs 85 lakh in our region and it has drawn fabulous response in both single-screens and multiplexes. The number of shows allotted to the film at multiplexes was more than expected. After the IPL, an entertaining film like this was exactly what the audience wanted."
