Rowdy Rathore Has Biggest Opening Weekend Of The Year

Rowdy Rathore has set the box office on fire with collections of around 48 crore nett in its first weekend. It is the biggest opening weekend of the year and the biggest non holiday opening weekend of all time.

The film has done excellent business all over with places that did not take a bumper opening on Friday picking up on Saturday and growing further on Sunday.

The key was always going to be the North India markets as the film was a South remake retaining a similar look to the original film but these areas picked up on Saturday and consolidated further on Sunday something that films like Wanted and Singham failed to do.

The Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar areas were phenomenal from day one and have come out with near record collections for first three days. Rowdy Rathore is sure to sustain well on Monday, just a question of how well. It also seems set to emerge the biggest hit of 2012 till date.

Rowdy Rathore May Emerge Biggest Grosser Of 2012

Rowdy Rathore has rocked the nation on Sunday at single screens and multiplexes and may go on to be the highest grossing film of 2012.

Although it has a lot of work to do over next few days but the trending over the weekend suggests huge appreciation all over and the way key stations that are important for the sustenance of a film have behaved suggest the film is set for a solid run and will put up huge lifetime numbers.

The weekend business is looking towards the 48 crore nett range, it may even go higher when final collections come in.

On Sunday multiplexes which rarely show Sunday growth as are situated in urban areas where people have to go to offices on Monday morning therefore late shows are weak were showing higher collections on Sunday than Saturday.

Rowdy Rathore: Akshay Kumar elated with public response

Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar is elated with the response to his recently released film 'Rowdy Rathore' and insists that he would continue doing movies of all genres. Having begun his career with action films, Akshay later took a break to star in romantic, comedy and dramas, delivering hits like 'Dhadkan', 'Hera Pheri', 'Namaste London', 'Welcome' and 'Singh is Kinng'.

"When I used to do action movies earlier, everyone used to say I am doing a lot of them. These are nothing but mood swings of the audience. What I have learnt is one should do everything from comedy to action, romantic to negative roles.

There should be balance in everything," Akshay said. Directed by Prabhu Deva, 'Rowdy Rathore', an action film features Akshay and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. The film released last Friday.

"We went to a few cinema houses and saw people dancing in theatres, whistling and having fun. It feels great to see this kind of response. I heard that in Rajasthan about eight lakh Rajput Rathores, dressed in traditional avatar, are all set to watch the film together," Akshay said.

"It is a big thing for me. Even if I don't get an award it's ok, but it is this reward that makes me happy," he said. 'Rowdy Rathore', a remake of Telugu film 'Vikramarkudu', has had a compelling start. The film has reportedly earned Rs 15.10 crore on the opening day, making it the third biggest opening of all times after 'Agneepath' and 'Bodyguard'.

When asked about the one thing that clicked with the audience, Akshay says, "May be the story line. After all, it is a remake film from South and it is surprising that people are liking the film. The amazing part is that in Chennai and Hyderabad, it is doing a good business. It is surprising that people want to see the same film in different languages. It is the same film after all."

Rowdy Rathore Huge Growth on Sunday.

Rowdy Rathore has finally broken the Box Office barriers and sailed through ferociously on Sunday. It has shown huge growth on Sunday and collected around 19 crore nett all India as per early estimates. Rowdy Rathore three day total is around 48-49 crore nett all India, humongous.

It has shown a jump of 30% on average across all India from Saturday collections. Both multiplexes and single screens are rocking across all circuits all India. Occupancy on Sunday was 80-85%+ which is just out of this world. Many shows across the country were housefull and it was havoc in many centres. Business in Bihar and Rajasthan were record breaking on Sunday.

Akshay Kumar is now in deadly form and roaring back like in 2007 and is on course for a huge hit with Rowdy Rathore. Rowdy Rathore now is a big threat to the Biggest grosser of the year 2012, Agneepath and Monday onwards will determine whether it has the thump on the long run. Wait for the actual collection update.
