Is that the only thing we got? Gotta love these supercliched arguments of poverty-peddlers. How are slums any different in, say, Egypt or China? Boo huh!

It just so happened that slumdog Millionaire showed the slums in India. The story was such. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a British film that highlights positives in India. The story is such. It may not be as big as Slumdog, but it is popular.
I don't know why we make a hue and cry because Slumdog Millionaire highlighted a negative aspect of India.
Almost every movie shot in Brazil show Rocinha favela. District 9's plot was totally built on the slums in South Africa. We are the only country that is hypersensitive about foreigners showing our poverty.

To top it off, SM wasn't even an "Indian movie" technically. And the story was dramatic, kitschy and un-realistic to say the LEAST.

With Bollywood remaking South Indian LOUD and trashy movies, I dont think importance is being given for any approval from Hollywood. (I'm a South Indian who watches trashy Tollywood stuff btw)
Bollywood's doing it's thing. When it gets a praise from Hollywood... it's obviously shocked and is on cloud nine, because, lets face it - the quality of Hollywood in every sense is super-high-er than Bollywood..But, bollywood SURE isnt trying to get an approval - look at all the latest hits and recently made movies?
