Okay... He may be manipulative... Who Isn't? The rest of the superstars are manipulative too... Forget the stars, Aren't we all manipulative? We do manipulate words, we manipulate sentiments, we manipulate emotions... Even a 4 yr child knows what manipulation is.
Lets look at the bigger picture... He could have gone the safer way and stuck to something safe to make a TV debut... He has the money,he has the power, he has the contacts...
He chose to associate himself with something that had a bigger message to deliver at the end of it... He knew he had the power to deliver this message across the language barrier, the status barrier and he knew as a Superstar, he has the voice that people are going to hear.
Look at the amount of eyeballs he has grabbed... Look at the buzz the show has created.
Okay he may have an ulterior motive behind it, he may have his own agenda, he may be making tons of money bcoz of this, Star plus too may have its own agenda and could be benefitting out of this. So? Nobody is a Sant Mahatma here and neither him or Starplus are claiming to be one...
The issues discussed are nothing new... Its been going on for ages and it will continue to do so... What he is doing thru the show is bringing it out into the open for everyone to see and hear... Visual medium has a big impact and it does stay in people's mind for a while. The visuals seen in the show and the stories heard in the show does affect the audience deeply...
It does shake the collective conscience of the people and that brings abt the change in thinking.. The change wont be drastic but a slow one. One person cannot change something that is so deep-rooted in our society. But, Yes as a celebrity he can bring abt an awareness to the issue and thats exactly what he is doing... If he has to be manipulative to do that, so be it... As long as the message is reaching out to people, as long as its cutting across barriers, as long as its making people think... I have no complains...
