Basically its fine as long as its done in a sneaky manner? 😆

I am sorry to say ..but the people who are bad mouthing Amir Khan and Satymev Jayte are not really looking at the larger pic...this show yesterday was not about Amir Khan or u and me...it was about the GIRL CHILD...who is being killed everyday by some lunatics in India...Don't you guys get it...that if the show yesterday...changed the thinking of JUST ONE COUPLE...and thus maybe saved JUST ONE CHILD...it would be totally worth it...just try not to think about what AmirKhan will gain from this show...but try to think what we as human beings will gain from this ...maybe u will understand why this show is important...

I have completely stopped watching the 'IDIOT BOX'(which is literally an idiot box in India)...but this is one show that I am going to watch ...and will be totally worth my time...I cannot even imagine the amount of research and work that must have gone behind this show...somefacts were really an eyeopener...like how many rich and well educated people are getting rid of the girl child...it is really a slap on the faces of all those people who thump their chests in pride and say...India is shining...just because there are malls and highways...India won't shine until people get rid of their sick mentalities like wanting a boy more than a girl...
Coming to the TM's point that Amir Khan is fame hungry and needs publicity...I would say...yes he needs that...his profession requires him to be in lime light...but so what...if he wants to hog publicity...by saving a life...that is better than getting the publicity by killing or slapping someone...they are actors and businessmen.,...they have never claimed to be saints...I don't care if Aamir is doing this show for his personal gains...i am happy that...this show is going to change the sick mentalities that some have ...and save lives...so kudos to Amir Khan👍🏼

What was shown in the show is known to anyone who cares to follow some serious news on a regular basis. The educated people who are bent on killing their unborn girlchild will refrain because Aamir Khan hosted a show on the issue? I dont think so! Its easier for matinee idols to influence uneducated people but lot more difficult to do so for educated ones. Claiming Aamir's show will make a difference is akin to claiming that Aishwarya having a baby girl will improve the lot of girl child in India(and the world as she is world famous in India). Only difference the show will make is to Aamir bank balance.

Lets look at the bigger picture... He could have gone the safer way and stuck to something safe to make a TV debut... He has the money,he has the power, he has the contacts...
He chose to associate himself with something that had a bigger message to deliver at the end of it... He knew he had the power to deliver this message across the language barrier, the status barrier and he knew as a Superstar, he has the voice that people are going to hear.
Look at the amount of eyeballs he has grabbed... Look at the buzz the show has created.
Okay he may have an ulterior motive behind it, he may have his own agenda, he may be making tons of money bcoz of this, Star plus too may have its own agenda and could be benefitting out of this. So? Nobody is a Sant Mahatma here and neither him or Starplus are claiming to be one...
The issues discussed are nothing new... Its been going on for ages and it will continue to do so... What he is doing thru the show is bringing it out into the open for everyone to see and hear... Visual medium has a big impact and it does stay in people's mind for a while. The visuals seen in the show and the stories heard in the show does affect the audience deeply...
It does shake the collective conscience of the people and that brings abt the change in thinking.. The change wont be drastic but a slow one. One person cannot change something that is so deep-rooted in our society. But, Yes as a celebrity he can bring abt an awareness to the issue and thats exactly what he is doing... If he has to be manipulative to do that, so be it... As long as the message is reaching out to people, as long as its cutting across barriers, as long as its making people think... I have no complains...

To go the safer way and try and host a game show like say Dus Ka Dum one need charisma. Thats one thing Aamir sorely lacks among all the superstars. Pretty obvious from the boring promos of the show.

Sometimes when you speak up against something too political it is not unreasonable to assume that he might have been threatened to shut up! Why no one thinks about that?

We have a tendency to be too cynical sometimes...so even a man with good intentions seem like they are pretending since we are too used to seeing two faced people and think that is how everyone is...so even when a genuine person comes along we don't trust him. Anyways...really forget about Aamir Khan...let him be manipulaitve to get fame...the point is the show is going to cover topics that we know about but don't talk about...the show will open up those topics and cause people in their daily lives to talk about them! That's more than enough!

So its ok to use a current issue to garner some publicity and run away once the deed is done? Afterall the poor fellow would have been threatened and has a family to feed. But surprisingly activists like Medha Patkar havent run away after years.

Sometimes just knowing about a problem is not enough...people need a shock of some kind to jump into action...I am not saying that this show will solve this problem completely...but atleast it is a start...Don't we all know about corruption in India...then why did so many people joined the Anna Hazare movement...because they realised that its about time that they did something about the corruption...
Its not just about changing the thinking of a couple...its about making the public aware of how this child abortion is a multi billion dollar industry now in india...where everyone from the ultrasound machine industry...to doctors and nurses and radiologists are involved...did u have any idea that the doctors would deliberately tell the couple that their baby is a girl...even if it was a boy...so that they could make money by aborting it?...did u ever know that these doctors offered a package deal?...did u know that this was actually started by the Govt. of india?...I did not know all these things ...even though i was aware of this problem...this show is not only about making people aware of the issue...but also about educating them and proposing a solution...of course like any other show/program...it has a chance of failing...but atleast the people were woken out of their slumber...
and yes ...Aamir Khan will be laughing on his way to the bank...but if he manages to save even one life it would be worth it..

That is just temporary..sweetheart...no one can take Shahrukh's place in my avi😆
and I know that Shahrukh is smarter than Aamir...I totally agree with ya😆
But when someone makes an effort in the right direction...they need to be appreciated...and I think that Aamir has really taken a step in the right direction👍🏼

Knowing how apathetic Indians are usually I feel nothing will come of it except a few twitter discussions. Just look at the state of Anna Hazare's movement right now. But atleast Anna Hazare is committed to his cause whether anyone else cares for it or not. Aamir will scoot with his crores as soon as the shooting is done.

I knew Infanticide occured in India, but i had NO idea that it was so predominant. So actually, to foreigners, and especially to those who do not even originate from India, Satyamev was thought provoking and informative. I was in awe inspired fury, when i found out that infanticide was so rife in the urban area's. I had always presumed that female foeticide only occured in the most remote, rural areas.

come to think of it, I think the starplus soaps are actually reflective in some ways of the Indian public. Thats why trashy and vile saas-bahu saga's work so well. India still has a LONG way to go in terms of infanticide, equality of women and, racism/casteism.

The show imo, was knowledgeable but not completely preachy. I like that Amir didnt even take up all the screenspace and gave abused women the time, and the platform to share their personal experiences with the world. I like that he used official statistics such as the census to back up his findings and his theories. I dont care if Amir is 'shrewd' and 'smart'. Those are considered good qualities, even basic survival instincts to some. He has to earn a livelihood too, ya know? Im just glad that he chose to do something worthwhile while earning his pay.

That first episode was so moving. I cant believe people can be so heartless. Its so sickening. I just hope the government buckles up and effectively tackles these issues. Its obvious these things arent only common practices in the villages. Its widespread amongst the middle-class and the upper-class-- those who actually have had the privilege of receiving an education! Stupid baby killers, the lot of them!

That first episode made me want to count my blessings. Those poor babies, they never even had a chance, did they?
