I am sorry to say ..but the people who are bad mouthing Amir Khan and Satymev Jayte are not really looking at the larger pic...this show yesterday was not about Amir Khan or u and me...it was about the GIRL CHILD...who is being killed everyday by some lunatics in India...Don't you guys get it...that if the show yesterday...changed the thinking of JUST ONE COUPLE...and thus maybe saved JUST ONE CHILD...it would be totally worth it...just try not to think about what AmirKhan will gain from this show...but try to think what we as human beings will gain from this ...maybe u will understand why this show is important...

I have completely stopped watching the 'IDIOT BOX'(which is literally an idiot box in India)...but this is one show that I am going to watch ...and will be totally worth my time...I cannot even imagine the amount of research and work that must have gone behind this show...somefacts were really an eyeopener...like how many rich and well educated people are getting rid of the girl child...it is really a slap on the faces of all those people who thump their chests in pride and say...India is shining...just because there are malls and highways...India won't shine until people get rid of their sick mentalities like wanting a boy more than a girl...

Coming to the TM's point that Amir Khan is fame hungry and needs publicity...I would say...yes he needs that...his profession requires him to be in lime light...but so what...if he wants to hog publicity...by saving a life...that is better than getting the publicity by killing or slapping someone...they are actors and businessmen.,...they have never claimed to be saints...I don't care if Aamir is doing this show for his personal gains...i am happy that...this show is going to change the sick mentalities that some have ...and save lives...so kudos to Amir Khan👍🏼

Well, it had promised a lot. And Aamir Khan's Satyamev Jayate on Star Plus delivered. The episode delved deep into the issue of female infanticide. By bringing in cases of women who had been battered and bruised by husbands and in-laws for bearing a girl child, he made us once again take note that an evil that had been brushed under the carpet is still existent and flourishing

Educated women from educated families were showcased as being duped victims of forced abortions by their educated husbands and in-laws. Aamir Khan cautioned that this is not a problem of villages but of cities and towns where the male child is more welcome than the female.

He also sought TV viewers help to force the Rajasthan government to fast track some cases against doctors who have been aborting female fetuses and encouraging female foeticide. Viewers can send an SMS to 5782711 typingY in the SMS – a part of the SMS charges will be donated to an organization which will use it to battle female foeticide.

Aamir connected with a group of Haryanvi bachelor men through a 3G link who were not able to get married as there were not enough women left. One of the men from the 30 year plus bunch requested Aamir to get Bollywood king Salman Khan to lead their group.

He then went on to tell viewers that there is a solution to this alarming situation of the imbalance in the male female sex ratio by citing the tale of an official in Nwanashahr who firmly cracked down on sex determination tests and abortions and ensured that the girl child to male child ratio became equal.

Aamir was subdued, pensive, shocked, and he even writhed in pain on camera when women and experts narrated the terrible experiences that they suffered because they chose to become mothers of a girl child, despite opposition from their families. He also lauded them for fighting for their girl children against all odds.

Satyamev Jayate brought a lump to viewers' throats, and one hardly was aware of the passage of time, thanks to the sharp editing and tight scripting. In all, a performance worthy of the man who we have come to know as Aamir Khan.

To be fair, news channels have attempted to tackle the issue, but when a public figure like Aamir Khan puts his weight behind a cause, one can only hope it gets penetrated deep into the nation's consciousness. And that it works as a catalyst to bring about change.

The show is quite likely to generate record TRPs. It, along with Aamir Khan, DD, female foeticide, Swanand Kirkire are already trending on Twitter. And it is quite likely to generate new TV viewing patterns in India on Sunday morning which augurs well for viewers, broadcasters, and producers.

My point is that what does he want to prove by being involved in issues like these? IMO his involvement doesn't come out as genuine but more like a GIMMICK to show himself as MESSIAH of kamjoor janta of INDIA. Why he nedded a TV SHOW to tackle this issue. Why didn't he just started ANNA HAHRE type movemnet without involving MEDIA and TV RATINGS??

Star power: Aamir Khan at the music launch of Satyamev Jayate. Star's costliest show yet may not churn profits for the channel ' PTI

New Delhi, May 7:

Satyamev Jayate which marked the television debut of actor Aamir Khan on Sunday is Star India's costliest show. And despite charging a premium from advertisers, the channel is not particularly hopeful of recovering its investments.

The show is being simulcast in eight languages across all key channels of the Star network ' Star Plus, Star Pravah, Star Jalsha,Star Utsav, Asianet, Star Vijay besides ETV Telugu and Doordarshan.

Mr Sanjay Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Star India said, "It is one of the costliest shows. Besides a huge cost of production and marketing, we have other costs since it is being dubbed across many languages and simulcast on all these television channels. We might not break even." He refused to give the specifics of advertising revenues.

Higher ad charges

This is even as the television channel is learnt to have charged over three times more from advertisers compared to other television shows. "The power of the concept and the power of Aamir Khan have helped us charge much higher than we would from any other television show," he said. Airtel is the title sponsor and other key sponsors include Axis Bank, Berger Paints, Skoda, Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson.

After launching its Hindi general entertainment channel, Life Ok, Star has just launched its movies channel Movies Ok. "To be able to grow our share in the Hindi speaking markets, we had to bring in a different proposition which led us to launch Life OK. We are further strengthening the OK brand with the launch of Movies Ok, for the next 12-24 months we would be focussing on establishing these two channels," he said. Movies Ok was launched after Viacom 18 sold a large portfolio of movie rights to Star India early this year.

The channel was launched even as the media industry is reeling under pressures on the advertising revenue front. "The advertising outlook for the next few months looks robust but advertisers are becoming choosier about the properties they want to invest in as well as evaluating more on where they want to put their money," Mr Gupta added.
