Since when did acting become a prerequisite to super stardom? 😆

PS: Get your guard up for the war that is coming to this post
PPS: You might consider hiring a protection squad for yourself ala "He Who Shall Not Be Named" in these parts of IF
PPPS: I think I will open a popcorn stand for the peanut gallery that is also on the way to this post!

Think about it how many hollywood actresses who receive accolades are really beautifull? Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep, Julliete Lewis...i'm not saying these women look bad but they aren't really: WOW like megan fox. Still i doubt we'll ever see megan fox receiving an oscar unlike the less good looking jodie foster who can act.

wow hearing something from someone who were making obsessive topics abt him couple of days ago...what change indeed😆

That's what I used to think when I first started watching Hindi films. I thought he was an ass who just overacts and cries all the time.

After some time though, I started noticing why people like him. He's actually a good actor. He does emotional scenes well. Yes, he still overacts from time to time, but his emotional scenes make up for it.

My mom always says that actors actually act as themselves on screen. No matter what, there is always parts of their personality portraying there. The same is true for Salman. He has a very childish, kind of spoiled part to him that he portrays on screen. But there is also a lot of feeling there. That feeling reaches me in front of the TV and that never happens with bad actors.

And, he can dance.

I can't stand his pre-Dabanng looks though. I think he was only hot in Dabanng.

And as idiotic as he looked in the final scene of HDDCS, that was actually the type of guy he was portraying. He needed to be immature, childish and stupid because that's why Aish's character chooses Ajay who is the more mature, responsible man.

Well bollywood has stars not actors for a reason😆😆😆😆...
the ones who act receive no more than critical acclaim...the ones who dont get awards after awards for being the star attraction...hurray for bollywood
Hum Dil De...frankly...the sets, the supporting cast, the cinematography...the storyline...the direction, photography...music...dialogue writer...makeup artist...stuntman(were there?? 🤔)...producers...and the spotboys...the chai wala, caterers...was all that was good about the film...except for the three lead dead pan expressioned stars

To one of the posters above who said that Michelle Williams is as annoying as Katrina Kaif- Really? Brokeback Mountain, My Week With Marilyn, and ESPECIALLY BLUE VALENTINE show that this girl can act. Seriously, one of the most underrated young actors in Hollywood. Rooney Mara was spectacular in TGWTDT. As many expectations as I had from Carnage (which was a great play), Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet DID NOT deserve nominations for this, though I agree- that Tilda Swinton wasn't nominated was a travesty.

But to all those people who say "Oh, Hollywood is the same"- Um. No. It's not. Yeah, shit like The Help gets nominated for Oscars, but Shia LeBeouf didn't get nominated for Transformers, which I equate to shit like Ra-One and Bodygaurd. Good special effects and stylized action does not make a good movie.

As for the dude from Catonsville, MD who asked if I believe everything in the National Enquirer- Um, No. Aishwarya Rai I believe had a press conference where she admitted that Salman Khan was verbally and physically abusive. Salman Khan DID run over a homeless man and lied about that stupid "Oh Oh Jaane Jaana" singer being the driver of the car. This is all documented. Salman Khan IS in cahoots with asstard terrorists like Dawood, etc. (As is Sanjay Dutt). He was in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, which was funded by Shakeel, Dawood, etc. People in Bollywood stick their tongue up his ass because they are AFRAID of him. He is shady. Period. Just because some stupid fanboys sitting with their pants around their ankles in front of their computers watching Bodygaurd and beating off furiously in Noida claim that their "Bhai" is perfect doesn't mean that every bad thing printed about him is tabloid nonsense. SRK is a shit actor most of the time, but I've never heard of him abusing a woman, killing a homeless man, or being in cahoots with members of the underworld. Sorry bro, you're wrong.

Burcidi -

Thanks for your reply. Maybe therein lies Salman's appeal. But then, if that's really his personality, can we say that it is "acting"?

I do agree with you. You definitely have your opinion and it makes a lot of sense.

But if he can't act and has gotten to where he is today, what does that say about cinema-goers in India? I've probably lost all objectivity due to watching so many Indian films. I think I've started caring more about the overall story line rather than the acting, which might be why Salman doesn't look like such a horrible actor anymore. Or maybe there are so many worse actors in Bollywood that Salman actually makes it look good. This is an industry where people get roles more for their connections rather than their talent.

But simply power, connections, family or money is not enough to stay in this industry. We see lots of these people get roles but they come and go with an eyeblink. They just don't last which makes me think that some talent is required for someone to last so long in the industry.

You're right about Salman's character and shady activities, but it doesn't appear to affect cinemagoers at all. People don't rate movies or pay for movie tickets based on a person's character. They do because they like that actor and from my experience, most Indians don't like actors who have zero talent. They call them dumb, don't watch their movies and move on...

SRK too is no saint... Yeah in comparison to Salman he is fairly better but he is no dhoodh se dhula hua... 😆
SRK too has abused women... maybe not physically but verbally definitely... Back in the early 90's he had called the Cineblitz office and he had abused and threatened the women there of consequences... There was an interview too where he admits blasting the media office... It was posted here few days back...
Regarding underworld... Well ... He has/had close ties to Karim Morani and Morani is linked with the underworld... There where whispers too that his IPL team was funded by Morani and the underworld money...
Regarding the authenticity of all these gossip... There is no smoke without fire... I do believe there is some truth in those Salman stories we have been hearing all these years and same way i do believe there is some truth in these SRK stories too...

What sparked my post was seeing all of these people on message forums complaining about the fact that Salman wasn't nominated for anything, or was snubbed like it was some sort of travesty that he be ignored for nominations. I basically read these posts and was like "...the hell is going on?" because I saw these movies and they were AWFUL.
